Origins of Malaika
Malaika (who's name translates to Angel in Swahili) is head of the Wakandan/French trade connection & long-time admirer of T'challa. The two had a previous romance before their goals split them up physically, but she would be one of the few who were pivotal in helping maintain Wakanda during a Bast vs Black Panther Trial.
One night with the King:
During a time where there is racial tension in a small African country called Azania, Malaika is safe in France making sure the Wealth & trade of Wakanda is maintained. There were rumors that Black Panther was spear-heading the rebellion, & as Malaika learned more she found that there was a convoy of superpowered beings headed to her home. Shortly after learning this, Malaika was visiting by a recently exiled council member (Moise, who aided T'challa in a trial which is forbidden) who told her that the biggest problem was not super-powered goons but a nuclear response. After pulling some strings Moise successfully won Malaika over & she sent the message out to the council, which, she knew would likely get her a visit from the King himself.
Expecting his arrival but now sure when, Malaika was surprised by T'challa while lost in her thoughts & after a greeting the King updated her on his plans. Malaika had plans of her own, and pulled a gun on him as the official council ruling stated "Restrain the Black Panther & return I'm to Wakanda immediately. Use any force neccessary". After pointing out that even she knew how useless a gun was against him, she got uncharacteristically emotional & after T'challa pulled out the reason for her frustration, she didn't want him to leave.
After the 2 caught up on lost feelings, they headed to a man who might know where the nuke was being prepared. Requiring 25 million Francs & Black Panthers' avengers ID (neither of which he hesitated to give up), the 2 bought a helicopter & set out to stop the bomb. After arriving T'challa had Malaika stay back safely while he went to infiltrate the base but soon she would be visited & attacked by another mysterious Black Panther. Down but not out, Malaika arrived during the missile launch in order to give Black Panthers time to disarm it & successfully save their home of Wakanda.
Black Panther vs Black Panther?
With Wakanda free of Nuclear threat, the people celebrate (with Malaika asking the king do so himself) but T'challa ponders on the other panther causing the Revolts and has a seeking suspicion it is his GOD Bast. Leaving everyone including Moise & Malaika at the party, they search for him & find T'challa face to face with the Wakandan God... the ultimate battle had begun.
Moise, Ndebele, & Malaika were key in their King's success during the fight with Bast, activating the Cybernetic jungle's defenses which saved T'challa's life many times throughout the encounter. Bast won the fight, but the battle was to hone the King's resolve &, once that lesson was learned the Big Cat vanished. Later at his side, Malaika asked how could T'challa lose but still win, after which T'challa told her that their minds met & that as Panther injustice anywhere was injustice everywhere amongst Africans. Her whereabouts after this are unknown, but she is a pivotal part of Wakanda & will always be special to T'challa.
To those who are not T'challa, Malaika is straightforward & calculated in her motives tending to talk at them rather than to them. Given she is the Wakandan/French trade point of connection, such reserve makes sense, but whether it's former council members or travel companions the dismissive tone is present.
When speaking with T'challa, she tends to have exclamations & interest in the King's well-being. She gets emotional when assuming T'challa will leave her & stuck by his side after the initial meeting, going back to Wakanda &, even Azania (hostile territory) with the King. She cares him deeply, and the full range of her personality can be seen in their interactions.
