No. But he was never truly evil. He just did what was best in his eyes for the mutant race, he felt he was it's savior. This Magneto nowadays.... Ugh... -_-
Magneto
Character » Magneto appears in 5887 issues.
Among the most powerful, recognizable, and infamous mutants to inhabit the planet Earth, Magneto was the X-Men's first major nemesis. Now known as a revolutionist and terrorist, Magneto has fought for the X-Men as many times as he’s been against them.
Should Magneto be a good guy?
he is better as villain, he's a great villain because you kind of want to root for him because of his past experience. He's clearly a leader, not a follower, which is part of the problem with him in recent years, he's forced into being a team player. but he's just so popular that marvel have to make him a hero. even now the role his character played has basically been taken the jerk processed cyclops.and its really silly because anyone who's read the characters history know's he's done pretty serious crimes, I think in 70's he releases an EMP blast in the upper hemisphere. that would've causes all sorts of problems, including planes crashes, but everyone ignores that.
I know a lot people were angered with mark millar's interpretation of the character in Ultimate X-Men, but really its pretty accurate portrayal of magneto's early comic appearances, he's out of blood, he think's he's superior and he uses the mutant cause as an excuse
Charles shall we say "the good guy" was raised an only child, isolated, alone neglected from his parents. Which I think draws him in to where he becomes a man who knows the value of togetherness & acceptance.
Where as Magneto, shall we say "the bad guy" was raised in slave camps. Which taught him the ways of war, dominance & supremacy. It's always interesting to see these characters cross that line & step over to the other side. Makes for great story. Also reflects on us all & truly intimidates life.
Mania Maxims
Magneto is an anti-hero more or less, so we have to consider how he's both good and evil.
If we look at the iconic American horror film character Michael Myers, the fictional masked serial killer from the popular Halloween film franchise, we find a child psychopath who grows up to be a stalking phantom, a man who does not necessarily look gruesome or hideous but is certainly threatening.
Well, Magneto is a lot like Michael Myers, exhibiting qualities of childhood-based psychosis but manifesting behaviors that are not explicitly hideous or gruesome but certainly ominous.
In fact, we can use Magneto (Marvel Comics) to perhaps understand complicated human behaviors such as pyromania, hypochondria, and egomania and even connect him to other psycho-modesty Marvel characters who represent unusual rebelliousness.
Magnetism Mentorship
You know that kid from high school who loved to get into fights and seemed to enjoy getting hurt and hurting others?
Well, we can draw up psych-profiles of such a kid --- i.e., "That kid's estranged from his father so he likes getting into schoolyard fights."
If we can separate Magneto, master of magnetism, from such psychological attitudes, then it will be easier to make him appear as a semi-hero, and he's worked with Xavier cooperatively in the past (even if it was against a common enemy).
Magneto's not psychic, he's a super-mutant who can control magnetic forces in the external universe. To make him look like a hero, we have to be able to say things like, "Magneto has matured and is no longer interested in simply being a brawler or polarizing civilization."
