Origin
Twins Madeleine and Judith Benoir were born and raised in Paris. In the early 20th century the pair, both artists, became involved on the periphery of the Surrealist art scene. Madeleine, a playwright who often relied on designing and selling dresses to make a living, was shy and self-effacing. By contrast, her twin, a painter, was bold and sociable, leading a hedonistic and scandalous lifestyle. Unfortunately, Judith attracted the attentions of the wealthy and mentally ill Mathieu Arbogast, who raped her. Following her sister's rape, Madeleine took the matter into her own hands.

Madeleine Benoir was created by Jason Hall and Cliff Chiang. She is based on the original Creeper, created by Steve Ditko, .

Beware the Creeper
Following Judith's rape, an eccentric new figure bursts onto the scene, raining hell on the wealthy elite, specifically targeting the Arbogast family, and conducting a series of daring art thefts and anti-conformist raids. This mysterious figure, called the Creeper, quickly becomes the darling of the surrealist scene in Paris. She acquired a vast number of followers among the non-conformist crowds, many of whom sought to emulate her. However, an accident at the Exposition Internationale des Artes Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes leads to the death of a child causes her to fall out of favour with the public. Her spirit is also broken following the death of the child, who she knew personally, and the Creeper fades away, apparently dying at the end of the final issue.
Powers and Abilities
Madeleine has no exceptional personal powers. She is fast, stealthy and very agile, and a competent acrobat. She is fearless in her actions, and engages in a form of roof-jumping not unlike parkour, which aids her in evading pursuit. She is a skillful planner and very resourceful. She is of average intelligence and a skilled playwright and a capable artist. She has some basic knowledge of explosives
