Madam Sharley (マダム・シャーリー, Madamu Shārī) is a supporting character from the One Piece series by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. She first appeared during the Fish-Man island Arc that began in Volume 61.
Her first anime appearance was in One Piece Vol. 62, CH. 610 "Fortune-Teller Madame Sharley" and
Sharley's name was often written originally in the Japanese publication as "Shyarly", as seen on Ch. 610 (Pg. 8 Panel 2). Both FUNimation and VIZ Media romanized her name as Sharley.
There was originally a continuity error in the Weekly Shōnen Jump publication of One Piece Ch. 544. She was illustrated in a flashback as a young woman, but this would have made her older than thirty years of age in the current time line. In series, mermaids can split their legs to walk once they are thirty years old. Oda would later correct this in Volume 65's release by redrawing Sharley as much younger.
