    The End Begins

    Story
This trade starts off with two stand alone issues called Neutral Ground and Lilith, the first is about a demon meeting and the human whose soul is hosting it.The latter is about the history between the Lilim and the Heavenly Host, both stories connection to the overall plot and give new insight about several things that happened and will happen. The main story contained is The Wolf Beneath The Tree, its about the forces of heaven trying to stop all creation from being destoryed due to Yahway's leaving and how three gods want the destruction to occur.Fenris aka the Wolf wants to go the World-Tree Yggdrasil to ensure that the end cannot be stopped while Lucifer,Michael and Ellane try to reach the tree first.
    Art
Gross and Kelly are great as usual but the standout art is by P.Craig Russell who in the vien of Sandman draws the 50th issue.
    Overview
Carey continues to craft a more then worth successor to The Sandman as we begin to reach the climax. The story felt a little convaluted but still delivered on many things especially on the Michael-Lucifer Fight. This Lucifer is not really the Devil we know because hes so likable and many people can understand his reasoning, some may even call him a hero. This volume may be a low point in the series but im sure the next will more then make up for it.
