This is a very different comic than the 1996 'version', although, as this is issue 0, it maybe premature to make any assumptions.
The comic is split into two very unequal halves. The first, and shortest, section is an introduction to the new Lookers. No long private investigators, but now social media experts who combat online 'trolls'. Again, the story may evolve, but on this initial showing, it is disappointing to see the heroines lack any real challenge. Likewise, it is hard to take a comic seriously when, (with its cheesecake and frequently nude artwork), the story appears to be denigrating the very people to whom it is supposed to appeal.
However, the second, and more substantial, section is a Pandora crossover and this section feels far more satisfying. First off, the Lookers (and Pandora) aren't just battling stereotypical nerds, and secondly, the characters feel a lot more engaging (which not only makes me care about what is happening, but also makes the outcome far more impactful).
Throughout the artwork is excellent, the panels are at times chaotic but never cluttered or confusing and, while I did cringe at some of the dialogue, especially in the first section, I'm pretty sure I used to cringe at the original as well.
Overall, this isn't the comic-book I expected and I think the first section especially feels as though it is trying to have its cake and eat it too (with respect to titillation juxtaposed with villains who are effectively 'nerds who live in their mother's basement'). But, on the strength of the cross-over story with Pandora, this is probably a title to keep your eye on as it evolves.
