When Harlan faced Thorke for the first time at the Blumenstock factory, he failed at saving Rose and her little daughter Ljuba. Thorke killed Rose, but wanted to use Ljuba, to achieve his revenge against Harlan. Using his powers he accelerated Ljuba's growth and implanted fake memories and a fake personality in her. Ljuba, now called Lisa, believed that Harlan was the one who killed her mother and Thorke her savior. After that, a long story made of love and suffering took place over the years, with Lisa slowly slipping into madness and forced to fight between good and evil, truth and falsity, in one of the major story arcs of the series.
