    First published in Le Journal de Tintin between 1967 and 1968, then in album form by Casterman in 1968.

    Dormant à la belle étoile, Alix, Enak et le jeune Octave, neveu de Jules César, sont soudain alertés par des cavaliers masqués qui attaquent une grosse exploitation campagnarde. Ligoté à un poteau pour être livré aux flammes du dieu Baal-Moloch, un enfant est sauvé par leur intervention.

    C’est Brutus qui conspire avec le préfet de Tarquini. Ils ont recréé une société secrète d'adeptes de Baal, dieu sanglant qui demande feu et sang. Alix et ses compagnons, en route vers Rome pour conter à César leurs suspicions, sont suivis et pris en chasse par les cavaliers rouges.

    Our hero Alix is protecting Gaius Octavius on behalf of Julius Caesar when they come across a Moloch cult. Jacques Martin really outdoes himself to provide many details about the historic Moloch cult of Carthage. It seems highly unlikely that their practices, worship and child sacrifice rituals would show up in Italy almost 100 years after the razing of Carthage by Roman troops, but nevertheless it works for this album! I guess if your relatives were threatened with being immolated for some gho...
