Creation

No Caption Provided

Lenny the Lion was created in 1954 by ventriloquist Terry Hall, drawing inspiration from a trip to the zoo. In 1956 the pair made their television debut on variety show Dress Rehearsal, and in 1957 the puppet starred in The Lenny Lion Show, the first of what would prove to be a string of TV shows based around him. On 14th June 1958 he made his comic strip debut in TV Comic 345, taking the cover slot; Lenny also appeared in several TV Comic Annuals. In 1959 the first Lenny the Lion Annual was published; four more would follow.
