Legion of Super-Heroes #14
THE GOOD:
The art is one of the problems in the book, however, it is improved from the last issue and the anatomy looks right most of the time. The actions looks strong and the spaceships and the future tech looks amazing. The emotions are very little but they do get the point across. Like any Legion story, it jumps around but we also get a feeling that a story started and ended but there still is one going on in all the issues and that is why this series is a fun one. We really get to focus on Chemical Kid and Element Lad and it's interesting how they work together. Phantom Girl and Sun Boy also make a very interesting discovery and one that will no doubt be a huge part in future issues of this series. Brainiac 5 is also still discovering things about Comet Queen and the answers shocked me and it takes you back all the way back to Legion of Super-Heroes #1, of the last series.
THE BAD:
Keith Griffen could not get here sooner. Scott Kolins is a fine artist, but his style doesn't work on this book. It's a little different and very simplistic and when readers have a hard time getting what is going on, they need an anchor and the art does that. This art isn't good enough to make someone want to keep reading to look at the panels. Sorry, but it's the biggest flaw with this issue.
THE VERDICT: 4/5 (Great)
I enjoy the Legion of Super-Heroes and I can not wait for Keith Griffen and maybe this book could get sorta where is was when the Great Darkness Sage and all the other classic Legion stories came from, but that it is a long way from getting there. If you are a fan of the Legion, this is something that you would want to get. If you aren't and want to start reading, this isn't a good time for your to jump on but there probably isn't going to be one for a good while. Great issue but a few flaws.
