Aang, last of the Air Nomads, is the Avatar, a perpetually reincarnated being charged with the spiritual guidance of the world. Aang must master all four elements (Earth, Air, Water and Fire) and defeat the Fire Lord before the arrival of Sozin's comet, or the Fire Nation will dominate the world.
The child of wealthy industrialist Hiroshi Sato, Asami would eventually become involved with the new Avatar Korra and her friends through Mako. Asami is also a member of Team Avatar.

Kuvira is the leader and founder of the Earth Empire and the former captain of the Zaofu Guard.
Kya is the only daughter to Avatar Aang and Katara and a waterbending master as well as renowned healer. When Tenzin visited the South Pole alongside Korra, he encountered her and Bumi, his older siblings who later followed him on Air Temple Island. As the aunt of Jinora, Ikki and Meelo she was willing to protect them when their home was infiltrated and as the only close person who truly understands Korra and Asami's relationship, she's willing to talk to them about anything they need.

Opal is the daughter of Suyin Beifong, half-niece of Lin Beifong and the granddaughter of Toph Beifong.
Raava is the spirit of peace and light, and creator of the Avatar Spirit after fusing with Wan. She is one of the oldest known spirits, having existed over ten thousand lifetimes before the appearance of the first humans.
Tenzin is the son of Avatar Aang and Katara and one of the few airbenders of this generation. He believes that nothing not named his family is more important than carrying on the culture of the Air Nomads to upcoming generations and is now training the new ones into becoming the airbending society the world lacked for more than a hundred of years. As Korra's mentor on the other hand, he is always there to consult her on her journey of becoming a fully realized Avatar.
Tonraq is the chief of the Southern Water Tribe and is Avatar Korra's father.
Toph is a blind girl who uses Earth Bending to "see". She is Aang's Earth, Bending teacher. She is the only, person along ,her family to reveal, their surname. Toph is also a master, Earthbender; she can, also metal bend.
Iroh is a former general of the Fire Nation, older brother to Fire Lord Ozai and uncle to Prince Zuko and Princess Azula. Iroh accompanied Zuko during his time of banishment acting as his moral compass. He's is also a powerful Firebender.
Varrick is an eccentric and charismatic nonbending billionaire businessman known for his ambitious nature and flamboyance. He is best friends with Bolin and is in love with his assistant Zhu Li.
Zuko is Prince of the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender. He has a large scar on his face from being burned because he spoke out of turn at a war meeting. He is the current firelord and is a skilled swordsman as well as a firebender.
