Korak GK33
Dan Spiegle’s artwork is very good in this issue. In addition to providing his usual fan service by being a walking shirtless scene, Korak becomes a dude in distress three times in this story. While pursuing an evil witch doctor who has kidnapped the son of a friendly tribal chief, Korak is hypnotized by a mirror shining sunlight into his eyes. Imagining a variety of strange animals attacking him, the mesmerized jungle boy feints from the disorientation. Awakened by a little monkey friend, the youth continues the pursuit. Catching up to the witch doctor, Korak is led to the kidnapped boy but underestimates the villain’s wiliness. The witch doctor floors the brash jungle boy with a chop to the side of the neck. The chief’s son helps up our chastened hero. While escaping with the chief’s son, Korak protects him from a volcanic explosion by shielding him with his body. A hurtling rock hits the jungle boy on the head, knocking him out yet again. The chief’s son tries to awaken his unconscious hero, while trying to fend off a pack of hyenas, until they are saved by his father and his warriors, In this story, Korak comes across as a handsome boy scout in a leopard-skin loincloth. He has a good heart that propels him into action, often impetuously. Fortunately, he has strength, agility, and intelligence to back it up. In this story, after rescuing a friendly tribal chief from poisoning, he pursues the evil witch doctor, who has kidnapped the chief’s son.
