The Konoha Military Police Force (木ノ葉警務部隊, Konoha Keimu Butai) are a group from the Naruto series created by Masashi Kishimoto. The series first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in November 1999. It first appeared in Naruto Volume 25, CH. 220 "Brothers".
The Konoha Military Police Force was the judicial organization in Konohagakure. The Force was originally founded by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, and was given to the Uchiha as a sign of trust and good faith between the Senju and Uchiha clans. Tobirama explained that he did this so that the Uchiha's emotions could be kept in check and to have them benefit the village at the same time, drawing attention away from the fact that he still harbored ill feelings towards them for their actions in the previous wars. One member, Obito Uchiha, a.k.a. Tobi of the Akatsuki, believed that this was just a method of alienating the clan from the village, positioning them on the outskirts and preventing them from having any part in the governing of the village. He himself wan't part of the Force, but learned of the history and treatment of the Uchiha from his mentor, Madara.
The group was formed only of Uchiha clan members, and they took part in arresting enemy and rouge ninja and keeping the peace inside the village walls. They held jurisdiction over everyone in the village outside of the Hokage himself and the Anbu black ops directly under the Hokage, giving them many responsibilities and powers. The Police Force symbol is the Uchiha clan crest painted on the inside of a shuriken. Members of the Police Force wore this crest on a patch on their shoulder with the usual Konoha uniform.
