Is he the Robin of the Superman family? A replacement? He could do things that Superman couldn't do and also get away with it because he ain't Superman. It feels like hes just a Superman 2.0 which is somewhat boring.

That's probably why he will always be in Superman's shadow.

I don't think he's ever been in Superman's shadow...unlike all of the Robins, Superboy has never been a "sidekick"...he's always been his own hero

Yea he came with his own mythos connected to the Superman legacy. He has however been Superman's sidekick and is written to be in Superman's shadow. A dynamic for a lot of his story arcs. The difference between he and the Robins is that they start off as a sidekick and branch off into their own character.

Idk about Superman 2.0. He doesn't seem to be an improvement to Clark in any way.

when was he ever Superman's sidekick? Superman never really took him under his wing and they never hung out regularly and had regular team ups....sure they had a few random team ups here and there but it's never been "Superman and Superboy" like "Batman and Robin"

Superman is NOT a sidekick, and he is unique in look, personality, genetics, and powerset from the other S shield wearers.

He's no more of a side kick than steel, supergirl, eradicator or krypto....even less so in the new 52. They barely liked each other
