This is dedicated to my favorite X-lady: Kitty Pryde or Shadowcat.
What I like most about Kitty is how much she has grown, matured, and became one of my favorites over time. Pryde started out as a 13 year old student and the youngest member of the X-Men. What amazed me most was how much she had developed. She played a huge role in Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men and is now the co-headmistress of the Jean Grey School. She has grown to be a fantastic leader and an admirable headmistress, playing a big role as "Professor Kitty" in All New X-Men. Charles Xavier would be proud. And so am I.
2. Astonishing X-Men (SPOILERS)
In my opinion, Joss Whedon's run on the Astonishing X-Men is the greatest comic book run of all-time. And guess who played a huge role in it? Kitty Pryde. She was now a teacher at the school. At when the others were down, Kitty took control and basically protected the X-Men. At the end, she sacrificed her life in order to save Earth. After reading it, my respect for Kitty shot straight up and I was absolutely...astonished. It is no surprised, since Whedon is great a strong female leads.
One reason she's so awesome is her relationships and interactions with others. Two I want to her mention are: Colossus and Wolverine. Colossus being a romantic relationship, and Wolverine, a father-daughter relationship. Her relationship with Colossus is one of my favorites. The two have great chemistry and were loads of fun, not just 24/7 drama (sorry Emma-Scott). As for Wolverine, she was one of the first that Logan took under his wing. He became like a father to her. They later shared the head position in the Jean Grey School of Higher Learning. Half of what makes a character awesome is themselves, the other half is their interactions. I love Kitty's interactions with others.
Kitty Pryde is a survivor. Her powers enable her to survive. What really impresses me is that when you read "Days of Future Past," you can see others die off but Kitty, who's powers aren't all that spectacular, survives. She was a tough leader and took initiate to get help and contact the X-Men of the past. I admire how in many hard situations, Pryde does not back down and just gets the job down. It is showed in Astonishing X-Men, where she's left alone, but she absolutely takes down Emma Frost and takes matters into her own hands.
Unlike some superheroines, she's not overly dramatic, emotional and not "over-sexualized." I like that. She's humble, kind, and is a big role model. I can think of a few superheroines who just show so much sexism. I don't see that Kitty Pryde. She has a great personality; she can be funny, smart, loving, and so on. She's just so down-to-earth.
One of the best comic book pets out there! 'Nuff said!
Sorry that this one is shorter than usual, but these are six reasons why Kitty Pryde is my favorite X-lady.
