First... Lionel Ritchie was being abusive and deserved it.. LOL!!! (but MAN he can sing!) Second... I don't remember the exact story arc, but that's from back in the 80s. Kitty had sort of 'infiltrated' a secret meeting at a college (I THINK it was a college)... They were wondering how she managed to not only find the group, but get into the room even though the room had electronic locks and what not... So, he was thinking she might be a mutant with powers etc.. AND the group was an anti-mutant group...so....

it's not racial abuse shes showing the similarities between mutant hate and racism, because if anyone should understand what mutants go through it should be the Black communitiy being that their hardships are pretty recent in world history and are still relevant today

Er, it's still racist. And it's not the first time Kitty has said something like that. Kitty is an incredibly smart woman, it's ridiculous and distasteful that she stooped to his level and called him a racial epithet to 'prove a point.' And Kitty is one of my favorite X-Characters, but it was still ridiculous and unacceptable. I guess Kitty is just 'proving another point', even though Stevie cried and was upset next panel.
why does kitty like calling men jerks it remains me of the time in generation hope series when hope called scott a jerk the same way kitty said it to prof. x

It wasn't racist, she was trying to let him know how wrong it is to use words like that, especially in a purposefully hurtful manner. She doesn't condone the use of words like that, which exactly is why she said it. She was trying to get someone else to stop using those words. Here is more of the scene:
And Stevie wasn't crying because Kitty had uttered the word "nigger" in her presence. She was upset because Kitty, in her anger, had pointed out her hypocrisy in being able to keep calm about slurs being used on other, non-black people, when she of all people should understand what it is like to be called slurs and should defend those who are harassed for the way they are born rather than passively stand by. She was disappointed in herself and the truth that Kitty harshly revealed about her, she basically says so in the next few panels.
