Great news for IDW! Announced today at Emerald City Comicon, Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is now working exclusively with IDW Publishing. All of his new projects will be published solely through IDW.
Eastman’s long and influential career in comics began with the co-creation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the success of which would lead to a cavalcade of films, television programs, video games, merchandise and more. Taking comics by storm, the originally self-published series thrived through a metamorphosis before landing at IDW, where Eastman has returned to the iconic heroes, plotting and periodically drawing the highly acclaimed series alongside IDW Senior Staff Writer Tom Waltz.
“Kevin is one of my oldest friends in comics and it makes me extremely happy that he's going to be part of the IDW team, said IDW CEO and Publisher, Ted Adams. “Kevin's contribution to pop culture can't be overstated and everyone at IDW is looking forward to helping him bring his new ideas into the world.”
IDW’s working relationship with Eastman started in 2011 with the launch of the all-new IDW TeenageMutant Ninja Turtles series. Eastman has continued to work closely with IDW on projects including classic reprints of the Ninja Turtles, special IDW Limited editions featuring original art alongside essential stories, and cover art for hit original series. A number of new projects will be announced in the coming months as part of this agreement.
Eastman will join the staff of IDW in their newly announced move to San Diego’s historic Liberty Station NTC offices with an office on-site, and his original works will mark the inaugural exhibition of the San Diego Comic Art Gallery.
