    Frank Oliver with his superhuman leaping abilities was the criminal better known as the Kangaroo. After Frank's death, another person named Brian Hibbs took over as the Kangaroo.

    Origin

    Frank Oliver grew up in Australia and spent his vacation time studying kangaroos. He studied how they ran, jump, fought and would also eat what kangaroos ate. He trained for many years and quickly gained the ability to jump and leap like a kangaroo. Frank would try to cash in on his new abilities and fight for money. He severely injured his first opponent when he kicked him in the face. He was labeled a beast, a killer and charges were going to be pressed against him. Frank would leave his country of Australia and stow away on a boat until he reached America. The authorities found him with no passport and planned to deport him. He escaped and decided to live life as a criminal. Frank wanted to give everyone a reason to fear the Kangaroo.

    Creation

    Kangaroo was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1970 and first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man # 81.

    Character Evolution

    Another individual by the name of Brian Hibbs takes on the identity of the Kangaroo. He wears a kangaroo-themed suit of armor that grants him superhuman strength and leaping ability. It also has a prehensile tail and a pouch cannon.

    Mayor Story Arcs

    The first Kangaroo

    The Kangaroo needed some cash so he assaulted a group of officers guarding a particular case. The Kangaroo escapes with the case but the contents reveal to be a vial of deadly, experimental bacteria. Spider Man hears the news about the deadly bacteria and looks for the Kangaroo. He finds the Kangaroo robbing a couple for some money and a fight ensues. Spider Man manages to get the vial back but the Kangaroo escapes.

    The Kangaroo would later meet Dr. Jonas Harrow who would augment his abilities through an operation. Dr. Harrow attached outward apparatus to the Kangaroo's lower legs and hands. He then attached a series of wires, transmitters and receivers to multiple nerve terminals that ultimately connected to the Kangaroo's brain that would control the outward apparatus. Compressed air jets would augment his punching power and leaping abilities. Dr. Harrow wanted the Kangaroo's services for a plan but the Kangaroo struck him down. The Kangaroo wanted revenge on Spider Man and felt he was unstoppable with his enhanced abilities. The Kangaroo finds Spider Man and the two begin to fight. During the fight, the Kangaroo's head is surging with pain. He hears a voice inside his brain commanding him to follow orders or the pain will continue. The Kangaroo leaves Spider Man and returns to Dr. Harrow. Dr. Harrow planted a mental pacemaker under his skin where he can transmit pain into the Kangaroo's brain via remote control. Dr. Harrow commands the Kangaroo to steal a radioactive isotope inside a special lab on the Hudson river. Spider Man hears a police bulletin informing him of the Kangaroo's location. Spider Man enters the lab and engages the Kangaroo. He warns the Kangaroo that the radioactive isotope is dangerous and that the concentrated gamma rays could burn a man up in seconds. The Kangaroo thinks Spider Man is just trying to trick him and opens the door leading to the isotope. The concentrated radiation consumes the Kangaroo and is reduced to a pile of ashes.

    The Second Kangaroo

    The new Kangaroo would team up with the Gibbon, Grizzly and the Spot. They would be known as the Legion of Losers. The Spot teleports his partners inside a bank vault but the Gibbon and Grizzly refuse to participate in the heist. The gang returns back to their apartment hideout and in-fighting occurs over the robbery. Gibbon and Grizzly team up to take down the Spot and Kangaroo with Spider Man as a witness.

    Arnim Zola created numerous proto-husks from DNA samples of deceased heroes and villains including the Kangaroo whom he called his Corpse Corps. These resurrected husks would secure riches to fund his genetic experiments but come into conflict with Deadpool after Animus steals some files from him. The merc with a mouth guns down Captain Kangaroo and the Whizzer in a hail of gunfire. Deadpool destroys most of the proto-husks and defeats Arnim Zola.

    Daughters of the Dragon

    Kangaroo would run into Colleen Wing and Misty Knight when the two ladies shakedown the Rascal Tavern where numerous costume criminals hang out. The two ladies beat down on some bad guys when they try to get answers on 8-Ball and Freezer Burn after they were killed for stealing a microchip from Ricadonna.

    Ends of the Earth

    Doctor Octopus was holding the Earth hostage with his satellites equipped with stealth technology so Spider-Man needed help because the Avengers have been captured by the Sinister Six. Spider-Man sent out an emergency, distress message and several heroes from around the world responded including Kangaroo, Union Jack, Sabra, Titanium Man and the team of Big Hero 6. Spider-Man would provide the heroes with the locations of the missile bases that were launching the satellites into space but warned them that Doctor Octopus has hired a number of mercenaries and assassins to protect his operation. Spider-Man asked the heroes to stop the launch if possible and try to retrieve one of the stealth chips from any satellite. Kangaroo located one the missile bases in the Australian Outback but was confronted by Lady Deathstrike. Kangaroo was killed by one swift slash by Lady Deathstrike's claw.

    Powers & Abilities

    Frank Oliver's natural abilities were enhanced by Jonas Harrow's implants connected to his nervous system, giving him superhuman strength in his legs and the ability to leap great heights and distances. He was also trained as a professional boxer.

    Brian Hibbs is at the peak of physical fitness and a good fighter. He has also worn a suit of armor that conveys the following abilities. The Kangaroo is able to leap up to great distances thanks to his armor. In armor, he has a semi-prehensile tail, a pouch level cannon, enhanced strength, agility and endurance.
