My memory might at times be a bit hazy, but I seem to remember it being Zod and his cohorts that brought a planet-levelling machine with them and decided it was a good idea to use it?

@outside_85: After all of that Superman and Zod basically leveled a city.

And like I am sure we have discussed before, Superman really didn't have any means to get Zod out of the city, since he would just come straight back or head somewhere else to kill more people as he said he would.

@outside_85: If Zod's only motive is to kill Superman, then why would he care? also we saw Superman has no trouble grabbing him and moving him from one place to another.

However it's all pointless since this isn't real life, it's a movie and the writer could put this in the script.

Which it wasn't, if anything he priority list was to kill humans in front of Clark first, then kill him.

@outside_85: Yeah, but to do that he has to get through Clark, who could take the fight elsewhere. If Zod tries to fly back then he's vulnerable for an attack from behind.

As we saw in the movie, all he had to do was punch Clark around and the collateral damage would mount up.

@outside_85: Then Clark would punch him back, and knock him into buildings. Again, there is no defending it because it's not real life, the entire sequence was a conscious decision by Goyer and Snyder.

Same here, DC animation has yet to disappoint for me. Plus the story this movie is based on was very well received, and good stories usually make for better films.

The choice being between depicting such a fight as real as possible, or go for an idealized kid-friendly version where all the damage results in a few scrapes and bruises.

@outside_85: The Avengers movie had an entire alien invasion in New York, and yet they kept the damage to a minimum (compared to this film) and showed the heroes saving people's lives during the invasion. It could have been so so so easy to take the fight to a canyon or some other deserted place and have a big epic fight there, and we would have gotten a better film because of it. Instead we got destruction/disaster porn.

@captainmarvel4ever: They had an army of redshirts armed with fisher price toys, the only real heavy they had was the flying whale. MoS had two Kryptonians.

That last comment is so stupid it's not worth responding to beyond this.

@outside_85: It doesn't change the fact that it was a battle with powerful aliens, and characters like Thor and the Hulk who can do major damage. You can't just keep denying that the film went overboard with destruction, and it brought the film down a notch. Even Michael Bay doesn't have as much destruction in his films, and that is saying something.

Hope they do forever evil soon.

@starlord17: They may not do that since they already made an animated movie with the Crime Syndicate. Although I would love for them to do a Forever Evil film (of course I would like Trinity War first).

Cyborg calling in reinforcements is one of the highlights of the story.

If they include the "I AM YOUR KING!!!!" scene in this film I would be the happiest Aquaman fan alive, heck, I even had the scan of that scene as my Facebook avatar.
