Which Justice Leaguers do you think deserve the most respect?
I say these guys because of their importance to different genres and sectors of the DC Universe. I think that they will have the biggest impact on the tapestry of the DCnU.
Team » Justice League of America appears in 3323 issues.
So you're coming up with the reasons why? Or are you asking us what we think personally?oh and I must say, Im liking your choices.
Batman. He may not be the most powerful in a random situation, but there's a reason he stands amongst gods. Despite being only human, with no powers save his gadgets, he has managed to wage a war on crime without killing anyone. There is a reason his arch nemesis is the single most feared entity in all of comic book (DC AND Marvel) universes.
No...
There we go.
You put any other villain except maybe Darkseid in a room with this guy, and they'll beg you to let them out. And Batman fights this guy on a regular basis. For everyone else on the Justice League, they all have amazing powers, they're all the absolute best at what they do: Flash is the fastest man alive, Superman is the most powerful superhuman, Martian Manhunter is the most powerful Martian, Aquaman is the King of the Sea, Wonder Woman is the strongest Amazon, etc. Batman is the best human. He is the epitome of what a human being could be. From his morals to his strength to his training to his dedication (see: obsession) to his wealth, he may push the edges of what humans are capable of, but he is nonetheless the epitome of a human being. Thus, by virtue of being a man among gods, and standing on equal footing with them, should he be given the most respect.
Aquaman, he deserves it
Cyborg not so much (wow he got blasted and they amped him up with apokoliptian tech just to be in par in terms of power.... laame), when speaking about a colored member of the league Mr Terrific (took MM's role) and John Stewart (former marine and intergalactic sniper) are more badass than he is. He took batman's role as the gadget guy, and if the new hal jordan wasn't a douche then he could do that tech stuff with the ring. - I love that superman is more agressive, him and WW seem cool.
flash is still awesome

Cyborg has no business being on here.
Why not? He's a founding League member. He's got lots of history. Lots of heroic experience. Doesn't matter if it wasn't with the Justice League at the time. I wouldn't peg him as the victor here (nobody comes close to Batman on this list) but he's absolutely legitimate as a contender.
Just my opinion, maybe you can convince me otherwise
1. Batman
2. Superman
3. Wonder Woman
4. Martian Manhunter
5. Flash
6. Hawkman
7. Aquaman
8. Green Lantern
9. Elongated Man
10.Cyborg
11. Hawkgirl
12. Atom
Aquaman, everyone has cool powers and/or skills
all he has is sea animals and that giant ass fork
anyone who stabs motherphucking darkseid with a giant ass fork gets my vote

lol!
Edit: I dont see why people like Superman and MMH deserve respect... If i had every power under the sun just by being born it wouldnt be hard to fight crime.
@TheGraySon: I say he does not deserve respect because he already has it, same with bats
Aquaman gets it for finally being badass after years of ridicule
to my cyb is a lame excuse when they have cooler afro-american heroes on the line (stewart and terrific)
@GraySon: because they choose to spend their lives helping your ungrateful butt when in truth they have much better things to do.
@Avenging-X-Bolt: There are many others who choose to help save lives and they dont have God-like powers. They deserve more respect than Superman.
So having powers negates the fact that he puts himself at risk every freaking day for people that he is superior too in every sense of the word. Didn't he DIE to save Metropolis from Doomsday? Hasn't he almost died countless time fighting Braniac, Darkseid, Mr.Mxysptlk, imperiled and the like? I'd say he deserves equal respect. A hero is a hero, powers or no powers.

@Avenging-X-Bolt: Doesnt really matter if he has died or not. I respect the guy who goes into battle with people like Darkseid carrying a belt full of crap instead of the guy with a bunch of powers. Dont get me wrong, i hate Batman, but i respect him because he goes into battle with things that are completely out of his league with only his brains and a strong right hook.
@Avenging-X-Bolt: How is it flawed? This thread is about who deserves the most respect. Youre telling me Superman deserves the most respect? Why? Because he fights stronger opponents? Theyre proportionate to him in power. The Bat family fights people way out of their league at every team fight. They still have the balls to do it. Theyve trained most of their lives to get to a point where they can defend the innocent and demolish their social lives. They deserve more respect than Superman.
I'm saying Superman deserve respect. I never said more or less. If you had eyes in your head , you'd have seen that I have Batman above Superman on my list too. You said that Superman and Mm don't deserve respect simply because they have powers. By that method of reasoning most of the heroes in the DCU don't deserve respect at all.
And who exactly in the bat family "demolished their social life" besides Bruce? Tim only separated himself from his friendS because he was pissed at them, Dick only did it because he was depressed over Donna and neither of those lasted very long did they? Jason, Cassandra and Damian never had social lives to begin with. And besides most of their friends are superheroes to begin with. If you had ever even bothered to read my statements, I never said the the bat family didn't deserve respect or even more respect than superman. I'm saying it's a scummy thing to say someone doesn't deserve respect because they have powers.

They still did it right? And they still have the will to crime fight without a social life. What about Barbara? She was crippled and now she sits in front of a computer all day playing oracle trying to piece together her relationship with Dick. Youre the one calling me out for stating my opinion, so im sorry for not running straight to your post which was before mine to see who you put at the top of your list. Do whatever the fuck you want, but dont call my logic flawed and my opinions scummy just because you disagree with them.
Also i didnt say anyone with powers automatically doesnt deserve respect, so stop trying to put together reasoning that doesnt make any sense. You knew what i meant when i singled out MMH and Superman. Theyre aliens who have God-like powers like i stated before. Most of the heroes in the DCU dont have God-like powers.
I'm not calling your logic flawed JUST because I disagree with it . I call it that because it's flawed. By your logic I could have a fight with my family separate myself from them and go fight crime and deserve to be respected for that. I love Tim to death but even I could admit that the way he was acting was unstable and childish. And last time I checked Barb still spent time with her family and friends. So no I don't think she destroyed her social life when the superhero community was their social life for the most art anyway. And how does my reasoning not make sense? J'onn has no social life himself. He chose to give it up and sty public as the Martian Manhunter he devoted all of his time to the league? And how the hell can Superman dying to save metropolis not matter? Because he came back? So did Green Arrow, does that erase the sacrifice He made when he died? How can anyone say that these men don't deserve any respect simply because they're powerful? They still put themselves in danger to save lives. Just because someone out there does more shouldn't change that. And thats not an opinion. It's a simple fact.
It's basically saying "hey dude, I know you're giving up time of your life to save and protect me and my family from thing that would flay the flesh from our bones otherwise out of the simple goodness of your heart but f-/( you because none of that matter because some other less powerful guy does it as well". If anyone could truly feel that way than they don't deserve any heroes at all.
@Avenging-X-Bolt: I didnt say you had to have a fight with your family to be respected, again youre just trying to put together an example that has nothing to do with the argument, but yes, if you took on metahumans with your bare fists after years of training and devoting yourself to fighting evil no matter what the cost (SOCIAL LIFE) i would respect you for it. I never said your logic was flawed, because unlike you im not going to hassle someone over their opinion on something trivial. Im done with this, i stated my opinion and explained why i thought so. I dont know why you still feel the need to tell me my logic is flawed. Not everything is a debate, and most people dont like being told their opinions are stupid. You should probably learn that. The world is filled with different opinions, and you dont need to comment on them all.
First off, it wouldn't matter if you told me my logic is flawed because it isn't. Secondly I know very well that not everyone likes being told that they're opinions are stupid, and when said opinions are inconsequential and well NOT being aired in a PUBLIC DISCUSSION FORUM, I let them go. But in this case only one truly applies.
And last I checked life and social life are kind of connected. You can't socialize with people when your dead.
@TheGraySon: just FYI, Aquaman was born with Super speed swim, telepatically controlling marine lift, super jump, healing factor, super strength. What makes him so different from Superman? Is it cos he can't fly? Aquaman is practically almost invulnerable, when the bullet hit his face, he just bleed a few drops of blood. Aquaman is pretty much born powerful. That doesn't make him any less of a hero. Being powerful should never be a reason why they don't deserves respect. Having powers and using them correctly deserves respect.
@TheGraySon: Also, just because you don't have any powers, you put on a suit and fight crime, suddenly you deserve more respect than anyone else? What sorta logic is that?
Batman deals with street level villains. Superman and Green Lantern deals with cosmic villains. Many cosmic villains are as lethal to both of them. They could easily die and it has happened before. How do they not deserve respect?
I think Green Lantern deserves the most respect because he was the only one who was properly trained, the one that was chosen to be a super-hero, and the one who has a greater knowledge of the universe than anyone besides maybe Martian Manhunter. Also he is the one who has the most likely chance of a worthy successer.
@CapFanboy: Fair point. Doom wouldn't be afraid of Joker. He's too arrogant. But if you're talking about 'who are people more afraid of'? People EVERYWHERE are scared of the Joker. Doom? He's that dictator in knock off Iron Man armor who talks about himself in the third person.
@sethysquare: Aquaman is/was (depending on which arc) King of Atlantis, along with that he joins the justice league and fights on land too. Same with GL, he defends the universe on a daily basis and still makes time for the team. Thats why i respect GL more than i respect Superman. Aquaman gets crap from the people at both land and sea, yet he still protects them. Basically, no one likes him, and he still helps. @sethysquare said:

What? No he wasnt born with a healing factor, and no he wasnt born with super strength, durability, or speed. The only thing he was born with was the ability to telepathically control marine life and the ability to breathe underwater. The rest of his stats came from being under the ocean with all that pressure. Which is where his strength, speed, durability, and super jump come from.. Kind of like conditioning. The only healing factor he had was when his hand got cut off and he got the lady of the lake to give him a mystical water hand, and he doesnt even have that anymore. Anyway, @sethysquare said:

I dont see why this keeps being brought up, because i never said that. For the last time, when Batman stands with the Justice League, he fights villains way out of his power set. Sure in his comics he fights masterminds or h2h experts, but in JL he stands against people like Darkseid. Which is why i respect him.
Maybe i shouldnt have said "i dont see why SM deserves any respect" because you guys are blowing it way out of proportion. I just dont like Superman, or MMH, but yeah if they were actually REAL and saving lives id obviously have some respect for them. Seeing as how its a comic book character, and isnt actually doing anything, i can judge him based on his character.

I don't' personally think anyone deserves more respect based on powers. I think its more that people with a lot of power choose to use it for others when the temptation to do otherwise is always there. People with no power can make the excuse they are powerless, but they still help. People with power could worry about themselves, but put their lives on the line for others. So I think that they would all get fairly equal respect. Its guys who do things for "the glory", that I would look down on, but still respect (saving lives is saving lives).
