I am very excited about the idea of having a DC Cinematic Universe. DC will use the next two movies, Batman vs Superman and Justice League, to introduce a myriad of characters at once. After those two movies, they will do solo movies for several characters.
It all starts after the events of Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman. The assumption is that in the latter, both heroes start of as antagonists to each other (sort of... mainly because of a misunderstanding probably orchestrated by Lex Luthor). But, they finally become allies at the end of the story. Also, based on the rumors, the end of the story is supposed to set up the JL movie, which is apparently planned to come out a year after.
Ending of Batman Vs Superman (Prelude to JL Movie)
It is rumored that several main characters (besides Batman) will be introduced in the Batman vs Superman movie. WW and Cyborg are the likely candidates. The former has already been confirmed. However, there is a strong possibility that The Martian Manhunter is also introduced. His introduction can really expand and introduce many characters in the DCU. It is an opportunity that WB should take. And, assuming that they do so, I have an idea about how The character can be used.
So at the end of the movie, the assumption is that Batman and Superman become buddies. Wonder Woman is eventually found out ( most likely by choice). She is an amazon and...blah blah blah. Point is amazons are real and reside on some remote island.
In the movie, at the end, everyone is freaked out. First, they had to get used to Superman and now there is a Wonder Woman. The Media are going nuts. Nations are now afraid the US would use these two as weapons. Countries like Iran, Russian, N.Korea, China are now said to be on red alert and they demand that there is UN conference to specifically discuss how are these ”intruders” to be dealt with. People in general are choosing sides:
1. Yes they are good people! Let’s glorify them
2. Well, let’s be cautious, they are too powerful to be fully trusted; what IF...
3. NO! NO! NO! They are aliens, illegal immigrants. They are trespassing! They have no Business being here. Lex Luthor is totally right! Death to Superman and that brat!
As a final scene to the movie, we see a ship, one that is quite big, it appears thru a wormhole, somewhere near the end of our solar system. The ship stands still.
We get a look inside and it’s revealed to us that a green humanoid with red eyes is the sole passenger aboard. He says some words in an alien language to command the ship’s A.I. He says: ” Tell me everything about the current situation on Earth” ( or some stuff like that...). The A.I connects to our satellites and starts pouring out information and it gets to the part where it is revealed that there is a Kryptonian on earth. The being looks surprised. Then he states, ”A Kryptonian?... may be there is hope for them after all”. He then commands the ship to set course to Mars. Next, we see the ship land on Mars. [Back on earth NASA is somewhat alerted]. The tall green being comes out and starts walking on the surface. Then he stops. Gets on one knee, and uses his right hand to touch the ground. He scoops a bit of sand, then he let’s run down from his hand to the ground. [With the camera directly in his face] He lifts his head and we see his eyes burning red (like when Kal-El was healing Lois in MoS) and his facial expression that shows Rage!
JL MOVIE
The whole story is built upon the confrontation between J’on J’onzz and his brother Malefic. The Martians are an extinct race with only those two survivors (at least that is the general consensus at this point). Like the Kryptonians, they were a very advanced race. They were known for building a world that is close to an Utopia. They were very small in numbers (nearly 1 million). This is because they have an extremely low reproduction rate ( 1/10^47) and they can quite easily live for centuries.
So, the movie starts out on Mars, centuries ago. Mars is destroyed. They are dead Martians all over the place. The destruction is total. We see J’on J’onzz in tears, crying over the dead bodies of his family and his people. He can sense that every body is dead, except for one person who is missing (as he suspected). There is no doubt in his mind that his brother Malefic is the one responsible. He screams out (in Martian) ”I will find You! I’ll make you pay for this!” (or something similar...).
Next, it is established that Malefic (played by Benedict Cumberbatch... he takes his human form when he arrives on earth) is quite renown for his evil deeds (The Green Lantern Corps is aware of his actions across the universe). Darkseid is aware of recent activities on earth and finds superman quite an interesting specimen. He requests a meeting with Malefic on Apokolips.
Darkseid’s plan:
Malefic accepts the offer of becoming his devotee. He leads Darkseids’ army to Earth and takes it over. In the process, he convinces Superman to pledge allegiance to Darkseid. Assuming that this happens, Superman becomes the ruler of earth and also a devotee to Darkseid. In case of a successful invasion, Darkseid will help Malefic get rid of J’on J’onzz. Malefic will thus be able to rebuild Mars (as he desires) and be its ruler.
J’on J’onzz, who is hunting for his brother managed to find out that Malefic has gone to Apokolips. He goes and finds out about Darkseid’s plan. He knows he can not interfere on the spot. Fighting both Darkseid and his brother would be somewhat suicidal. He leaves Apokolips. Next stop... Earth. He wants to go an alert the people of earth. In his mind, may be (just may be) earth has a fighting chance. This leads to the aforementioned final scene at the end of Batman vs Superman.
We see J’on J’onzz hovering over Mars . Then, instantly, he appears above earth (Teleportation). In a POV shot, we see a demonstration of his Supervision and Psychic powers. He zooms in on Metropolis and starts reading the minds of all its habitants. He senses the mind of a being that is different, Kal-El. He instantly teleports to a street of the city. Everyone is alerted! People start running all over the place. He sees an image of a model (in an advertisement board). This model is Keanu Reeves (well in that world). He shape-shifts to look like that person. So, we see J’on J’onzz now as a human...played by Keanu Reeves. Of course, Superman is alerted by all the chaos in the streets. So he shows up. As you can imagine, Superman wants to ask questions first. He does.
He asks ''Who...What are You? What do You want?, I can tell that you are not human”.J’on J’onzz tells him that he’s the one he wants to speak with. He wants to tell him about a pressing issue. The planet is in danger. He needs to go , NOW, and alert the leaders of world. Of course, Superman is confused and finds the ''alien” suspicious. One thing leads to another, a fight ensues.
Superman tries to speed blitz J’on J’onzz and move the fight to a safe place (after all, it has not been long since Metropolis was destroyed by aliens) . J’on J’onzz reads his mind. He manages to effortlessly stop superman as he grabs him by the neck. He teleports both of them to a planet out of the solar system.
J’on J’onzz has a funny idea. He wants to test how strong Superman is, can Superman be strong enough to fight the war that’s coming. This is because J’on J’onzz primarily wants to kill his brother, he is less concerned with saving earth.
They both fight and even though Superman is holding his own, it is evident that J’on J’onzz is just too powerful. The fight causes the planet (the size of Jupiter) to crack. Superman is defeated and unconscious (physical trauma plus a some mind rape). J’on J’onzz reads all his thoughts and memories. He now knows every single thing about him.
He teleports back to earth, to the White House with Superman in his hand (he has him by the neck). He drops superman, who then quickly recovers... probably because of the sun’s rays. J’on J’onzz makes his way into the White House to speak to the president, who is conveniently present of course. J’on J’onzz tells him about the impending invasion.
Superman does not try to deny J’on J’onzz’ claims. Probably because he now views him as a more powerful being than himself. He is not scared of him, but he’s never felt weak against another being. He is intimidated to a certain extent. The President claims that he won’t be bullied into making senseless decisions. He’s got no reason to trust J’on J’onzz, who in a rather stoic manner (typical Keanu Reeves facial expression) quietly looks at him...thinking "Why am i even talking to this simpleton". J’on J’onzz disappears ( Teleports) to ... ( more on this later).
At this point, Superman is unsure of whether or not J’on J’onzz can be trusted. But, after his experience in MoS, he knows that an alien invasion is not an unlikely thing to happen. He decides to go and have a talk with his new pal Batman.
Batman, of course, finds J’on J’onzz suspicious. But, he understands that being prepared would not hurt. So, he decides to hack his way into several satellites in order to deliver a fake message where the alien invaders announce their arrival. If the people of earth are willing to become slaves then there will be no bloodshed; otherwise, it’s war.
Once Batman completed his fake alien warning message, the leaders of major nations decide to have a UN- type meeting where they discuss defense plans. Some countries are really scared. Some are just not buying it. Nations are too busy blaming each other for what they think is a false alarm. So, it is hard to get everyone to discuss what ought to be done to be prepared. It is complete chaos. To make matters worst, Superman shows up to convince them to be prepared. Some accused him of being the one behind the whole ”story”. And just like that, the US, N.Korea, Russia and China are the only countries which decided to really get prepared. The rest basically decided to only mobilize a small portion of their defense resources.
[As a typical awesome batman moment] Back in the Bat cave, we see Batman checking out his Bat-armor. This signifies that he’s prepared to kick some ass if necessary.
Back to J’on J’onzz. He teleported to ... TWO places at once; he is that powerful. He teleported to Themyscira and Atlantis. He knows about these places. Darkseid and Malefic know about them too. The world already knows (recently) about the amazons. In the past, shortly afTer the events of MoS, there was an incident with a young guy called Arthur Curry that hinted at the existence of Atlantis. But, for some reason it was never taken seriously. It is like, people did not even bother to investigate. The idea of a bunch of people living somewhere in the ocean was too much of a crazy idea. No one cared much. So that incident (whatever it was...) became old, boring, crazy, and forgotten news. Besides, that young man was never seen again.
The truth is, this young man (thru a series of events) is now the King of Atlantis, the King of the Seas. He leads his supposedly nonexistent people of the kingdom of Atlantis.
In this universe, Arthur is a son of Poseidon. His mom was the queen of Atlantis. She got impregnated by Poseidon who disguised himself as the King and raped her. Poseidon viewed the King as arrogant (basically, these two had a beef... and well, the King of the Seas is just a King). As a punishment, Poseidon decides to have his way with the queen and impregnates her. When the King found out, he went MAD CRAZY!... to the point that he committed suicide. The queen became a target... they wanted to kill her and her unborn bastard child. She managed to barely escape to the surface world with the help of someone. She meets a man. They fall in love. While giving birth to Arthur, she died.
Arthur gets an unexpected visit from J’on J’onzz, who shrugs off every attack against him. He makes his way into the Throne room where Arthur is seated in his Throne chair unfazed, just waiting for trouble to come find him...he does not shy away from battle.
J’on J’onzz enters the room. He requests an audience with Arthur. Arthur steps from his Throne and walks down to stand face to face with J’on J’onzz. Guess what, Arthur is also a Telepath ( like J’on J’onzz, he has some Psionic powers...Telekinesis, Teleportation and more...but of course not on the same level as J’on J’onzz). Arthur can sense that J’on J’onzz is not here to fight. J’on J’onzz tells him about what’s coming. He wants Arthur to get involve. The Earth needs all the help it can get to fight what’s coming. Arthur can tell that he is not lying. He asks J’on J’onzz to step out of his Kingdom. Arthur says he’s on the fence on this one. As long as his Kingdom is not attacked, he won’t get involved. As J’on J’onzz is walking away, he telepathically tells Arthur it would be wise not to be on the defensive because once Darkseid’s forces win the battle on the surface world and make it to Atlantis, his Kingdom will be no more.
The previous event (in Atlantis) happened simultaneously as the one in Themyscira.
On Themyscira,
J'on J'onzz makes himself only visible to Diana’s mother, Hippolyta. Of course, at first she is alarmed, but he puts her in a state of physical paralysis. He proceeds to telepathically deliver his message. He shows her the gravity of the situation.
So, Hippolyta accepts to get the amazons involved if necessary. J’on J’onzz then teleports away. She asks amazons to get ready for a probable upcoming battle.
Next, J’on J’onzz teleports to Mars, to his ship, which is a very advanced techno-organic piece of engineering (in the future, Batman will take notes on its engineering). Inside it, he activates a portal that allows him to travel light years away. He sets coordinates to OA.
He goes thru the portal and lands in proximity of OA. The lantern corps is alerted, they send some lanterns to try to stop him. He easily defeats them.
He arrives on the planet and scans the minds of everyone. He locates the Guardians and he teleports to them. They don’t seem to be alerted. They know who J’on J’onzz is.
The Guardians remind him that he is trespassing. So, he proceeds to reveal what’s going to happen on earth. J’on J’onzz wants the Guardians to send an army of green lanterns to earth for protection. The Guardians say they actually have an earth-man who just joined the Corps. But, he has not been back to earth since. That’s because, he’s proven to be a really good recruit. This earth-man is Hal Jordan ( Jensen Ackles).
Hal Jordan has been patrolling space with Sinestro, currently the most respected green lantern.
The Guardians accept to send an army that will include Hal, Sinestro, Killowog and 20 other lanterns.
J’on J’onzz leaves and arrives to his ship on Mars. He now knowns that earth will be avenged by Superman, the green lanterns, the amazons, and possibly the atlanteans. He now wants to focus on handling Malefic.
On Apokolips, Malefic is discussing war plans with Kalibak (Darkseid’s adopted son) and the Female Furies ( Darkseid’s personal guard... a group of elite female warriors).
Malefic knows that J’on J’onzz will interfere. He knows that J’on J’onzz probably already tried to alert people on earth, including the kryptonian, the amazons and the atlanteans. However, he does not guess the collaboration of the green lantern corps. Malefic knows that he’ll have to fight his brother. He needs someone to take care of the Kryptonian. Malefic does not underestimate Superman. He knows Kalibak might could get cumber-stomped by Superman.
Thus, he is thinking about someone powerful enough to face the Kryptonian. That’s when the name LOBO comes to his mind.
A being with whom he fought before. He defeated Lobo, of course, ...but he was impressed by his abilities. Like himself, Lobo has caused the extinction of his whole race. He knows Lobo does not care about being good or bad. Lobo just hunts, fights, and kills for fun AND for a price. So, Malefic decides to bring Lobo into this operation. He will be charged with the task of neutralizing Superman. In return he will receive...( i don’t know, something worthwhile). Lobo accepts the offer!
IN THE FINAL MOMENTS OF THE MOVIE....
Superman vs Lobo happens somewhere in Morocco with few civilians and infrastructures around. It is a long and equal fight, but it ends when Superman decides to dump Lobo into the sun ( he kinda got desperate... besides J'on J'onzz already told him that Lobo is uber immortal, he can regenerate from a single blood cell). Lobo basically taps out. He does not want to get burned so HE SURRENDERS. Fight’s over!
Artemis and her amazon sisters battle the Female Furies and put them down, not easily though. Diana battles Kalibak. It is a tight battle. But, Kalibak is no match for Wonder Woman. For the most part, the Green lanterns and the Atlanteans had to spread around to stop the parademons from gaining ground. In addition, they had to do some damage control and protect innocent bystanders.
Of course, some countries’ armies got involved too. Lots of death ensued. Batman kicked some parademons ass and acted as the unofficial strategist/team leader while Jon Jon’zz was too busy slaying parademons and searching for Malefic who did not appear at first.
During the battle, J’on J’onzz established a telepathic connection between him and Superman, Batman, WW, Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Killowog, Arthur, Mera, and Artemis]. Although impressed with his fighting skills and power, just about everyone was wondering why is this man in a bat-armor thinks he is in charge. But, seeing that Superman and surprisingly even J’on J’onzz at times were responsive to his orders, they reluctantly went along with it. For the most part, Arthur and Hal Jordan are the ones who kept questioning Batman’s orders.
Malefic and J’on J’onzz have their battle in Russia, some place in the mountains. It is epic, the earth shakes, literally. There are earthquakes as a consequence. The fight is too close to call. They have almost the same power set. Ultimately, they both become weak. J’on J’onzz gets the upper hand in a psychic battle and incapacitates his brother. He decides that Malefic should be imprisoned for now( i Know...wtf! Kill him already). He wants the Guardians to imprison him...or just deal with it.
Kalibak, the Female Furies and the parademons return to Apokolips via boomtubes.
There are many losses in the parties involved. 3 green lanterns are dead. Two of the rings find new recruits on earth:
Jon Stewart ( The Rock) one of the soldiers who survived on the battle ground.
And, Guy Gardner ( Sean William Scott).
They get initiated a little bit, ...on the spot, by Killowog while doing some aftermath clean up and before they leave for OA. Hal Jordan is allowed to stay behind. After all, he’s been away for more than a year. Sinestro decides to stay with Hal Jordan..to observe human kind.
The rest of the lanterns return to OA with Malefic and J’on J’onzz. On OA, J’on J’onzz tells the Guardian to build a prison and keep Malefic. He also let’s them know that he intends on rebuilding a new Mars. A world that will welcome weak , homeless species. A peaceful world with him as the leader(...think Asgard with Odin as J’on J’onzz). He wants their blessing and also their help for some resources. They do not oppose to this idea for they are aware that many beings are in the situation of Kal-El and J’on J’onzz. And, some of these beings are too weak to survive on their own. The Guardians let him know it is a huge responsibility.
Back on earth, people are awed and terrified at the same time. The destructions and deaths are significant. This time, unlike MoS, the destructions are continental. South Europe, Morocco, Russia, Japan, China were the victims of destructions and heavy casualties. The world has a mixed view of these ''Super Heroes”. Shortly after the events, say 3 days, at the UN HQ there is an official presentation of some of those who fought together in this war ( basically WW3). We have J’on J’onzz, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hal Jordan. The King of Atlantis refused to take join ( for now...)
The UN officially announce them as the Justice League. J’on J’onzz also shares his idea of rebuilding Mars (... and how he looks forward to being neighbors...not everyone is pleased about this of course).
THE END.
