In a padded cell, Professor Ivo is consumed by madness. Ivo, speaking with his therapist, reflects on his past, and current conflict, with the Justice League of America. His construction of the android, Amazo. His murder of Vibe. His attempted murder of the Gypsy. His murder of Steel. Angered with his therapist's words, Ivo destroys the therapist, which proves to be yet another android. The Vixen hunts for Ivo. Dale Gunn, Hank Heywood, and J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, mourn Steel's death. The Martian Manhunter blames himself, while simultaneously thirsting for revenge.

Heywood provides J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, with a tracking device, to lead him to Ivo. Gunn reminds the Martain Manhunter that the League stands for justice, not revenge. J'onn J'onzz, the Manunter From Mars, reminds Gunn that there no longer is a Justice League of America. Tracking Ivo, by scent, through the sewers, the Vixen takes time out to kill a rat. The Vixen completely gives herself over to her animal side. The Vixen enters Ivo's underground lair, to find Ivo waiting for her. Ivo offers the Vixen poisoned tea. The Vixen hurls the tea in Ivo's face, then savagely attacks him.

Ivo orders his android killers to deal with the Vixen. Despite the overwhelming number of the androids, the Vixen is on the verge of triumph. Ivo transmits a code to the androids that make them more of a match for the Vixen. The tide turns quickly, as the Vixen finds herself now on the verge of death. The Martian Manhunter storms Ivo's underground lair. Ivo points out that his androids are murdering the Vixen. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, wades into the androids. Ivo sets the Martain Manhunter on fire. The androids erroneously believe the Vixen has died.

Playing possum, the Vixen gains the advantage over the androids, while simultaneously disarming Ivo. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, prepares to execute Ivo, but finds he cannot deliver the killing blow. The Vixen, however, can. With the Martian Manhunter screaming at her to stop, the Vixen tears Ivo's head off his shoulders, revealing Ivo to be another android. The real Ivo is found, in the padded cell, hopelessly insane, but filled with remorse over the actions of his androids. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, and the Vixen return to the Secret Sanctuary.

Despite the current presidential ban on super-heroes, the Martian Manhunter is convinced, more than ever, that the world needs the Justice League of America. Continuing the team is also the only true way to honor Steel, and Vibe. The Vixen, however, resigns from the League. Her path will carry her in a different direction. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, and the Vixen, embrace one last time. The Vixen departs. The Justice League of America distress signal summons the Martian Manhunter into battle.
