Will the new JLA headquarters’ newest resident help the League or destroy it? Plus: the adventures of J’onn J’onzz, the human manhunter.

The Elongated Man, the Gypsy, and the Vixen, are at a loss as to what to do about a horrific alien intelligence. John Jones, a private Investigator, stakes out an apartment building. Screams spur Jones into action. Jones discovers a woman, dead from a gunshot wound. Jones is confronted by police officers. Jones turns invisible, and flees with the murder weapon.

Despero returns to Kalanor. Zatanna is concerned that ashes found in her apartment may be human remains. A note in Zatanna's kitchen may provide a clue as to what befell the woman who sublet her apartment. Zatanna investigates. Paco Ramone accepts a rental agreement. Two hoods attempt to shake Ramone down. Ramone retaliates, using his super powers.

Henry Heywood is nearly injured in a staged combat scene. When his "adversary" fails to comply with Heywood's warning, Heywood hurls the man into the director, and storms off the set. Robin Flynn chases after Heywood, and gives him her phone number. The Elongated Man restores power to the Secret Sanctuary. The alien horror flees, rather than allow a skin sample to be taken from it.

The Elongated Man, the Gypsy, and the Vixen pursue the creature. The Vixen begins to experience weakness. Unseen by the three heroes, a family of possums have been completely mummified. The alien exits the Secret Sanctuary, running headlong into J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, Steel, and Vibe. After a brief scuffle, Steel subdues the creature. The Gypsy takes the team to task for injuring what she believes to be an infant. The Vixen stumbles out of the darkness, nearly mummified, and collapses.
