With the aid of their monstrous ally, Mule, the Sisterhood and the Justice League put Kass’andre and her guards to rout, but the two groups part when they disagree over the fate of the Atom. Stealing into the city separately, they get their chances to act when Kass’andre turns against her father and assassinates him. Krystal Kaa and Kass’andre battle to the villainess’ death, while Mother Moon uses her healing power to free the Atom of both Goltha’s mind control and his own madness. The new ruler of L’arra Sha returns the Justice League heroes to Earth, where Ray and Jean Palmer are happily reunited.
Kass' Andre, using the Ikara Staff, subdues the Justice League of America. Krystal Kaa leaps into battle, but the Siren Sisterhood hold her back. Sister Light unleashes Mule on Kass'Andre. The monstrous creature proves resistant to the power of the Ikara Staff. Kaa attacks Kass' Andre, but is subdued by the power of the Ikara Staff, coupled with Kass' Andre's "Precious", a gemstone of arcane power. Kass' Andre orders the Devil Guard to murder the Siren Sisterhood. An epic battle ensues. While the Siren Sisterhood ultimately triumphs over the Devil Guard, Kass' Andre escapes, with the Ikara Staff.
Mother Moon restores the Hawkman, with her healing touch. A schism breaks out between Kaa, and the Justice League of America. Kaa intends to slay the usurper, Goltha, and all who serve him. One of Goltha's servants is the Atom, whom the Justice League of America have come to rescue. Unable to reach an accord, the Justice League of America part company with Kaa, and the Siren Sisterhood. Kaa declares that when next they meet, it will be as enemies. Kass' Andre reports her failure to Goltha. Taking possession of the Ikara Staff, Goltha addresses the citizens of Ch'Anar.
With both the Ikara Staff, and the Triple Bands of Power, in his possession, Goltha is acknowledged as the one true ruler of Ch'Anar. With his alchemical knowledge, Goltha intends to unlock the secret of immortality, and rule over Ch'Anar forever. A prospect that does not sit well with his daughter, Kass' Andre. With the crowds cheering Goltha's name, Kass' Ande strikes from behind, burying her dagger in Goltha's back, slaying him. Taking possession of the Ikara Staff, Kass' Andre declares herself the new ruler. Kaa publicly opposes Kass' Andre.
Focusing her power through her "Precious", Kass' Andre awakens the sleeping Atom. The Atom immediately goes on a rampage. Mule engages the Atom in combat. The Green Arrow attacks Mule. When Sister Light attempts to intervene on Mule's behalf, the Red Tornado incapacitates her. Twigg attacks the Red Tornado, as the android hero ascends into the sky. The Atom grabs the Red Tornado, and Twigg, threatening to crush them in his giant hand. Kaa battles Kass' Andre. The Green Arrow holds the Siren Sisterhood at bay.
If anyone is going to be forced to kill the Atom, it is the Green Arrow who will take that burden. Mother Moon heals the Atom, restoring his mind, and his memory. The Atom, exhausted, collapses into unconsciousness. With Goltha slain, his security forces barely have the heart to battle against the Justice League Of America. Thus, they are easily defeated. Kaa slays Kass' Andre, in personal combat. Taking possession of the Ikara Staff, and the Triple Bands Of Power, Kaa reclaims her rightful place as ruler. Kaa uses the power of the Ikara Staff to send the Justice League of America home. The Justice League of America reappear in the Atom's laboratory, where the Atom shares a tearful reunion with his wife, Jean Loring.
