    Justice League Odyssey #7

First posted on my personal blog.

Since Justice League Odyssey #3, they story has slowly been building up to Starfire once again unleashing her new found "Old God" powers. We finally get that moment.

This issue feels quite different from the previous few. It could be that the slow build-up is finally paying off, which it does, don't get me wrong. But, what really makes this enjoyable is that we get to see the world building pay-off. Characters begin to make allegiances, for better or worse. Yet, the most satisfying thing is that they decide to deal with Darkseid head-on and that they're done talking.

Unlike the the previous issue's, #7 is action heavy. Everyone gets their moment to shine, but none moreso that Starfire; who really shows what she's capable of when she's not holding back.

During the downtime between the action we get a nice moment between Azrael and Starfire. A loner who's never felt like he's belonged, comforting someone who is afraid that they no longer belong.

Dan Abnett doesn't take long before diving into the action. There's something about Will Conrad's art that always seems appealing, wonderfully aided by Rain Beredo who makes the combat dark, yet beautifully vivid when needed.

    Conclusion

This is one of those essential issues for the volume, everything that's been built up over the last six issues begins to come into play here. With great writing and fantastic art, this is something that needs to be read.
