Final issue and blight storyline review
Final issue review (2/5 stars) :
There were several problems with this issue but my biggest complains relate to Constantine and Zatanna´s portrayal and the relation of this storyline with the main Forever Evil event.
-We learn that in this issue there are 2 Constantines and the actions of one of them have the opposite reaction I thought it would have considering how Constantine has behaved through this storyline; they also seemed to appear and disappear from frame which frustrated me
- Zatanna´s reaction to the actions of Constantine and the rest of the JLD seems odd to me since it was obvious from the series beginning that she was better leader than John
- But the worst of all to me is that it seems that the Syndicate has been in power for several weeks (months?) while in the main storyline it seems just a few days. And when the team is finally free and all is over it looks like the completely forget about the Crime Syndicate when a few moments earlier Zatanna explicitly mentions them
Blight storyline review (3.5/5):
In general I think this was a good event, there were significant developments with Pandora and the Phantom Stranger and it forced some changes within the JLD, either in their members, character development or maybe their modus operandi
The first half of the event which dealt with Blight was incredible; it had great fights, a lot of good character development and made you feel a great sense of urgency by making the team try to take down a foe that grew more powerful every moment while at the same time the clock ticking to find and save the disappeared members
The second half of the storyline started strong with the JLD infiltrating the Thaumaton Project only to be captured themselves. The fact that in the end it only took a mistake from one of the bad guys to allow the heroes to escape, some bad portrayals of the main characters and the failure to relate this story to the main Forever Evil storyline prevented this event to end on a high note
