    Jushiro Ukitake is the Captain of the 13th Squad in the Gotei 13. Not usually seen in battle due to his tuberculosis, Ukitake is incredible strong with his mutually strong zanpakuto: Sogyo no Kotowari (Truth of Pisces). His lieutenant in the 13th division is Rukia Kuchiki. He is best friends with fellow captain Shunsui Kyouraku of the Eighth Division. He and Kyouraku studied under Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto and were the first to become captains after graduating from the Soul Reaper Academy.
