    Signs that Kirby and Lee were moving in different directions 0

    The opening panels of this comic feature the Asgardian gods fighting an epic battle against the Demon men of Jotunheim. This is a clue to where Jack Kirby's head was at at this time - the captions by Stan Lee even admit that the only reason for these panels inclusion is that Jack wanted to do them. This is the writing on the wall (or comic) Jack's hunger for more epic story lines involving the gods is ultimately going to lead to the creation of the Inhumans... and eventually the New Gods and Jac...
