The Young die young
It's that time of the month! Yep the latest issue of Jonah Hex hit the stands on Wednesday and it went off with a bang. Issue after issue from #50 to this the stories have been one and done's that make you wish that this was done more often.
Spoiler Warning
I am a fan of Jonah and don't hide that fact but this issue is a notch above even the last 4 issues! Is that possible? Absolutely! Why? Well here we go. The story is written with such emotion. We have a killer of an opening that gives us Billy Dynamite. He is a tough and mean as Hex. Well as much as a kid can be, but you'll see what I mean when you read it. Running a saloon in the old west was risky business and definitely gets riskier when its run by a kid. He holds his own and gives an outlaw a new face. However, all fun must come to an end and Billy meets his in an explosive way. Sad to see him go so quickly. Jonah learns of this news from one of the women who worked in the saloon and he does what must be done. The criminals and the trees that they are tied to are obliterated. Well pace, great action, and great emotional resonance makes this story a solid 5 out of 5 for me.
On art this month is Alcazar. His work is fantastic! He really draws Hex the way I like him. The depth of the action really came out and the back grounds fill your viewing with the grit and meanness that this story needed.
Month after month I tout this book and it virtues. And month after month I ask all of you to give the book a try! This is not capes and tights but anyone who wants to sample a top notch book should look at this book!
