Current War
First off... This is a story. If you are looking for lots of shoot 'em up western action, don't read this issue. If you are interested in a story of the old west dealing with changes in science and way of life, then please read on.
This issue was interesting to me, although, I don't know if it's right up the alley on what I want/expect out of Johan Hex. The story starts off with Hex talking to an inventor that claims his invention was stolen by some men and taken to the Rocky Mountains to the research facilities of none other than Thomas Edison.
Hex heads up to this research facility to find out what's happening.
I like how the writers in this issue took the times and really did a good job of shedding some light on the changes happening in the old west at this time in history. Out east, inventors were making scientific discoveries that were changing peoples lives. The electric light bulb, steam powered devices, etc. These things don't interest Hex at all. There were many in the west with this same feeling.
It's an interesting look at our American history from the mouth of one of our greatest inventors.
