Harris doesn't waste any time, getting Joker's framing device out of the way quickly to jump right into the story. Of course, then the story itself spends a lot of time chugging along very slowly, but it works perfectly. You see, with Scarecrow, we're given an intentionally cliche 'teen slumber party' setting that we all know is going to slowly turn into a slasher movie.
