Must be the single greatest comic of all time.
I just started reading it last night. I've had two volumes that a friend gave me after he got out of comics. That stuff is NUTS! I'm from Texas, so I understand a lot of the subtleties worked in that book, like the racist comments and euphemisms, the slang and the accents. He did such a great job of capturing a lot of the stuff. Moreover, it's HILARIOUS!!! I couldn't stop laughing sometimes!
just wait till you read that last issue. It cant be put into words how moving it is. Preacher is funny, intelligent, very very violent, but overall its a very emotional story at heart, and everything balances perfectly. I just loved it.
im normally a batman punisher type of reader, but this just blew everything else away.
ive read the first couple of volumes of the boys and its shaping up nicely, but i dont think it can out do preacher. but i have to admit i loved Ennis just tearing into Nightwing with that Swingwing story. that made my day.
So true haha
im reading it again starting in may. It just suits the summer for some reason haha
One of the things I love about Preacher is how memorable the splash pages are. The final panel with the Saint of Killers is one that just sticks with you.
As a Christian, but a pretty relaxed one, would I enjoy this series, in your opinion? I've never been one for senseless exploitation but I've heard nothing but good things about this series. But I don't want to invest money into something that will just offend me for 66 issues.
Thanks, FTBB :)
Its a very well-written and enjoyable story (very violent), but it will probably portray elements of your religion in a matter you won't like. I base that off me lending my trade paperbacks to a christian friend a while back. He told me he couldn't read it."
