"Home, my son, is not a place. It is a feeling. It is a gathering of hearts that give comfort. It is heaven on earth."

    --from the teachings of Rahani

Jemm and Luther seek shelter among the homeless people in the cold winter of Harlem. Although much of the homeless sees the two newcomers as an invasion upon their territory, an eccentric man called "Crazy Freddie" takes it upon himself to serve as their guide. He leads them into the sewers to set the dead body of Gramps to rest. Unknown to either of them, two robotic sentries have followed them.

In the meantime, an injured Bouncer makes it home to his abusive mother, hoping that she will accept his idea of quitting his job as muscle for Claudius Tull. His mother, however, smacks him around, refusing to accept that her son is a quitter. Bouncer can't say no to his ma.

At the house of Senator Frank Berkley, CIA operative Charles Dade presents a number of photos he himself had taken of the Saturn space craft that had landed in the New Jersey swamp. He explains that they are photos of a massacre: 40 US troops and 2 NASA scientists were killed at the scene. He has sought the senator because he wants revenge. The Senator's guest, identified as Claudius Tull, believes Dade's story as well as being the first to explore unusual "opportunities"...

In the sewers, Jemm sets Gramps afloat in the water, to be carried away by the current in what Crazy Freddie believes to be a dignified manner. As Jemm does this, he recalls his time as a child on Saturn, taught by his friend and mentor Rahani to disregard all feelings of prejudice towards all Saturnians, red and white, because he is the prince of Saturn, the one prophesied to be a protector and savior to all of Saturn.

Just then, Jemm is struck by an energy beam, fired by one of the robotic sentries. Although caught off guard, Jemm recovers quickly, and swiftly disables the robot by exposing its wiring to the water, causing it to short-circuit. The battle is not over, as the very sewers seem to come alive and attack Jemm. A voice addresses him, revealing herself to be Kamah, a Koolar "shape-taker" of the the white Saturnians. She calls him pompous for thinking himself the last of the Saturnians, just like his father and every other generation in his family. She intends to kill him and exterminate the last of his gene pool. Ignoring the pain, Jemm has his soul gem pinpoint the location of Kamah's black heart, and fires on her. He is freed from the grasp of the sewers, and as Luther and Crazy Freddie rejoice over his victory, Jemm begins to mourn over Kamah's lifeless body... having feared he killed the last living white Saturnian.

Back at Bouncer's house, Claudius Tull wakes him in the night, wishing to hear all that he knows about the red man...
