Jean Pierre Polnareff initially lived happily in France with his young sister until one day his sister is attacked, sexually assaulted and murdered by a man with two right hands. He would then train his stand, Silver Chariot, for the next three years in order to search out the murderer and avenge his sister. He is then approached by Dio Brando, who found Polnareff's abilities to be useful and turns him into one of his minions by implanting a flesh bud in him.
Polnareff then approaches The Stardust Crusaders, a group consisting of Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar, Noriaki Kakyoin and Muhammad Avdol, in Hong Kong to stop them from hunting down Dio and challenges Avdol to a duel. After losing the battle and beginning to slowly burn to death, Avdol offers him the choice to commit suicide. Polnareff refuses to do so out of honor and accepts his faith. Seeing his honor, Avdol proceeds to to remove the flames in order to stop burning Polnareff and The Crusaders are able to remove the flesh bud from his head. Upon telling his story to the Crusaders, The Crusaders welcome Polnareff into joining them in their quest to end Dio.
