Jean Grey was one of the five original X-Men. An omega-level mutant telepath and powerful telekinetic, Jean has gained near limitless powers as a recurrent host of the Phoenix Force. She is known for her return from death and as the wife of Cyclops.
I was always against Jean/Phoenix being in the game....for petty reasons I guess. But if the series has the likes of Dormammu (and the likes of Thanos and Blackheart) then why not. The mix of Pheonix and Dark Phoenix should make her moveset a bit deeper than the average character, same can be said for Dante...or any transforming character.
Wow, not only does she have a healing hyper but she can instantly fill her health bar once she transforms into Dark Phoenix. Though it's being true to the character (and the Phoenix myth I guess) that's probably gonna get her banned from tournaments. I hope not.
Oh actually the health slowly drains after she transforms into DP, that's fair.

Jean and Dark Phoenix are not the same being. Dark Phoenix is the Phoenix Force which gives power to Jean, much like how Cytorrak empowers Juggernaut.

Wasn't actually expecting Phoenix to make an appearance in this game, but I've gotta say that she looks great! Now if we can just get Ms. Marvel and M. Bison... Spider Woman and Black Panther would be cool too, but then that is just hopeful wishing...

But it has been established that Jean and the Phoenix are one and the same. See X-Men: Phoenix Endsong, there is a conversation between Wolverine and Jean, Wolverine asks Jean if it's her or the Phoenix messing with his head, Jean then replies, "I'm always Jean and I'm always the Phoenix." Then again in the final issue, where the force is in Emma Frost's body, Jean rises from beneath the ice and blast Emnix down, the Phoenix force then asks Jean how she's doing this, to which Jean replies, "I am you."

Yeah, I thought M.O.D.O.K. was the low point for this game...but there are ever lower levels to achieve, folk. Guess somebody from there family has to be over used (last game it was Cable, though he was a balanced character who was abused by amateurs)
Oh please, Jean is awesome and she's going to be awesome in this game. I'm sure if it was Emma Frost that was revealed to be in this game, almost everyone would be messing their pants in excitement, because she has so much to offer as a character(and that was sarcasm there).
Cyclops got the shaft the next-gen versions of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Poor Cyclops is always getting screwed over. I don't mind as long as I have Phoenix on my team. I'm sure she's balanced.
all these damn 1 hit ko combos and meticulous players. Yeah i'll stick to shooters lol Although game looks good, but can't be bothered with a game where 1-2 mistakes means KO. I guess shooters are the same way, but at least I don't have to press a gazillion buttons.
OMFG! I LOVE THIS :D She is my favorite character, and now my life feels complete, guess who's now buying the game the day is comes out? :P lol She looks amazing btw :D
About time, she finally in the game. We had psylocke, storm & rogue and now Jean grey. I had to wait for x-men legends so i could use her and she was great in it.
"I've destroyed whole planets, so what chance have you got?" -Perfect. Now that it's out, has anyone had the chance to play the game? I'm curious to see if she's actually a game breaking character or not. I'd probably have phoenix, wolverine, and x-23 on reserve, but that's because I lack fighting game logic and can only use the fan service receptors in my brain.
