The Marvel Universe is currently experiencing a second Civil War. An Inhuman has surfaced with the ability to predict the future. Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, has made it her mission to apprehend individuals involved in those predictions before they are able to commit any foul deeds. Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, disagrees and feels it's a violation of the individuals' rights. The two have been at odds since.

Marvel has released two new Iron Man series: Invincible Iron Man and Infamous Iron Man. The first series features 15-year-old Riri Williams. The second deals with Doctor Doom taking on the mantle of Iron Man. Both series take place after Civil War II and readers have only been given hints about the absence of Tony Stark. With the release of Civil War II #7, it appears we finally have some answers to Stark's fate.

Warning: There will be spoilers for Civil War II #7 below.

The latest prediction showed Miles Morales (Spider-Man) killing Captain America. Carol immediately wanted to place Miles under arrest which lead to a group of heroes on Carol and Tony's side fighting each other. Captain America decided to allow Miles to leave when he said he had no intentions of killing him. Trying to deal with the impact of the vision, Miles decides to go to the scene of the supposed crime to hopefully prove he's not going to kill the Captain, who also decided to show up.

As the two heroes talk, Carol arrives and tries to convince Miles to go into protective custody with her. As she reaches out to him, everyone is surprised to find a force field appear in front of Miles. Tony Stark is there in a new and massive suit. Saying he gave her one last chance to give up her crusade, he pushes towards an attack.

After weeks of tension and fighting between them, things soon escalate. Carol delivers a massive blow to Iron Man in a fashion very similar to when Thanos killed War Machine in the events that kicked off this comic event.

What does this mean for Tony Stark?

A punch like that isn't something a normal person can walk away from. In the pages of Infamous Iron Man #1, Doom discovered Stark downloaded his brain into a digital projection "in case [his] bodily functions failed [him]." In Invincible Iron Man #1, Riri Williams mentions Tony Stark is gone just when she was getting to know him. She also receives Stark's digital form to serve as the A.I. in her suit of armor.

It's not fully clear if Tony Stark is actually dead. Tony Stark's recent girlfriend even had her doubts when Doctor Doom paid her a visit.

Comic book characters die and miraculously return from the dead all the time. What we do know is Tony Stark is out of the picture. He is no longer Iron Man and won't be around anytime soon. Doctor Doom and Riri Williams will take his place for the time being.

Unpopular opinion, but I'd be cool if Tony Stark died. Marvel does keep doing the 'this character died, but they came back to life' thing and honestly, just kill Tony let him stay dead for a bit and move on. I could care less about this crossover, though, because it has cut into just about all the Marvel titles I read except for Spider-Gwen (which is the only Marvel title I'm currently reading because of this stupid event)

So Carol just murdered him? Yea, that sounds like the Carol that marvel likes to write these days. Not that I'm sorry to see Tony go, he's been long overdue for a death and maybe the vacation will do him some good.

Of course Tony could have just grabbed him and ran, leaving a squad of Iron Man armor to keep Carol busy, or he could have surrounded Carol with the forcefield and filled it with knockout gas... or a dozen other non-stunt ways of stopping or slowing her down. Heck he could have showed up with a lawyer and demanded to see Carol's arrest warrant. But that's not marvels way.

Competing for the low intelligence score is Miles who went to the scene where he is supposed to kill Cap and Cap for going to that scene too. Of all the places you should avoid...

Unless I'm missing something, pretty much sums up Marvel 2015-2016.

That's the simplest and best description of the current state of Marvel I've ever seen. I'm going to steal this.

"You hear Mrs, or Captain, or whoever Marvel killed Iron Man?"

Civil War II has been a huge letdown, but this issue had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, those bits with Old Man Logan in the future really intrigued me.

The issue was really good up until the end where Carol fought Iron Man, because realistically, and based on each one´s power levels, Tony should beat Carol without trouble.

Another classic Marvel hero killed off in a cliche and anti-climatic manner with their resurrection only a matter of time. The death cycle of Marvel continues...

@thor_parker82: Yeah...I was thinking that she would at least go binary. (even though her current binary form isn't shit compared to what it was)

But she just straight up murders him in base. Something is very wrong with that.

So at the end of it all Carol is no better then Thanos? Killing Tony/James in the same way. Bendis has killed public interest in Captain Marvel and I don't see anyone being able to bring it back anytime soon.

That´s exactly what I was thinking, I have no problem if Carol went into Binary mode and killed Tony, because Binary is goddamn powerful, but regular Carol tearing a whole through Stark´s armor and killing him in the process is just bad writing.

I swear to god, if Carol doesn't face concequences for killing Stark, then I'm just done man. I mean she's the one fighting people because of death's that might happen, and has now caused many deaths that would have never happened.

OH LOOK THE VILLAIN WINS!

And we already know she will be facing no consequence for her actions.

Marvel! Teaching you that being the villain is better than being the hero!

I'd really like to know why people think Tony is dead when it's almost 100% -proof to be a remote suit like he did at the beginning when he infiltrated the Inhuman Royal Palace.

Now ofc. after this he'd better keep hiding because he just assaulted a government representative and that shit lands you in jail zero seconds flat.

Ms. Marvel

Spiderman

Vision (Ending)

Dead Pool

Renew Your Vows

Captain America (Rogers)

Thanos looks like it'll be good.

Other than that? Naw.

Clint never faced consequences for killing Bruce. This is marvel, killing is cool. Getting away with it, better.

Then again it's death. Death? When was the last time someone stayed dead? A splinter is more serious than death given the laziness of the marvel writing staff.

Thats true, but I think they'll let him find one cause without Thanos Marvel loses like 70% of its future plots.

Marvel doesn't have very many books to pick up that are good.

@hellsaint: Carol isnt a villain, but Bendis did try his best to make her look like one, I havent been reading Civil War but I read everything else with Carol in and I agree with all of her views.

Avatar image for primeearth2016
#43 Posted by PrimeEarth2016 (244 posts) - - Show Bio

@doctordamn: You are overestimating Tony, Carol really doesnt need to go binary to take out someone without powers like him.

Avatar image for hellsaint
#44 Posted by HellSaint (305 posts) - - Show Bio

@primeearth2016:

Carol is basically a villain, hecks its already been set up that Ulysses visions can be set up as Cap did it for Banner.

Carol even in her other series has a bit of a problem, not a very good hero just a super-powered authoritarian (At least when the rules fit her) and here's she's become a full on villain as her actions have directly led to chaos and death and she refuses to see it. Is she misguided? Yes, but a misguided hero who does villainous things is still a villain.

and now she incapacitates / "kills" Tony.

Don't get me wrong I understand "why" but her why is not sufficient enough to justify anything.

One more reason to not read Marvel anymore.

I think that until Bendis and a few others are replaced, that Marvel's comics are going to continue to resemble a festering wound. It seems like a big office circlejerk is going on, and has been for some time.

This isn't anything new.

Bendis had to kill 3 iconic Heros to get anyone to care about this. Am I the only one that has noticed that?
