    Iron Man

Character » Iron Man appears in 11201 issues.

Tony Stark was the arrogant son of wealthy, weapon manufacturer Howard Stark. Tony cared only about himself, but he would have a change of heart after he was kidnapped by terrorists and gravely injured. Pressured to create a weapon of mass destruction, Stark instead created a suit of armor powerful enough for him to escape. Tony used his vast resources and intellect to make the world a better place as The Invincible Iron Man. Stark's super hero identity led him to become a founding member of the Avengers.

What do you think is his strength level/range, in terms of tonnage?

Any armor for MCU Iron Man, but no Hulkbuster, Igor and any Iron Legion suits.

Comic and composite feats are not allowed, but MCU canon comic scan are allowed.

Alot of people like to lowball Iron-man this is especially true for MCU Iron-man.

With that said i,d say anywhere between 15-60 maybe 100 plus Tonnes depending on the film. In the first film he was probably around 10-20 tons. And in the second film he to be at least 30-40 tons. But his strength feats post Avengers put him at the 40-80 ton margin. He could be a 100 Tonner but ive seen nothing conclusive to back this claim up, just a little theory of mine. As we haven't even seen the upper limits of MCU Tonys strength yet.

War Machine has stated and shown to be strong enough to lift a tank which averages around 60 tons more or less. It's reasonable to believe Iron Man's armor is at least just as strong.

@krleavenger: First of all, the turbine was used to operate a helicarrier.

Second, the turbine had around 20 large blades on it, thus being the reason why its heavy. A blade may weigh 50 tons.

How about you watch the movies and look for the best strength feat and do the calculations instead of making a thread on comic vine. Lazy bum!

His armor was at 19% and dropping using a power source made from scraps not even designed to power that suit.

Not to mention Tony had around thirty upgrades since then and could go up against Thor.

Apparently Tony dismantled the original War Machine, that was the Iron Man MKII with conventional weaponry added, immediately after Iron Man 2 and built Rhodey a new War Machine MKII suit, so probably that one.

@m_man: Everything you just posted is with the addition of his repulsors/flight.

Having rockets under your feet and flying up isn't the lifting strength of the suit. Catching the car is (while probably a low showing) an example of lifting strength.

They're still lifting feats. He obviously needs propulsion because he's in the air and has no footing. If a human throws on a jetpack, it doesn't suddenly mean he can lift a car. The limbs of a person still need to be strong enough to support what's being carried. Regardless, here's a lifting feat in MCU Stark armor on the ground that I mentioned earlier:

    No Caption Provided

And in Age of Ultron, Rhodey confirmed further to being able to lift a tank.

That feat (with the addition of Rhodey and the tank) are great indications of his lifting tonnage.

His flight ones are not for obvious reasons.

With a weaker armor he`s been able to lift up a car I think with his best he would be around the 50-60 tons mark due to his power relation in regards to what Rhodey has shown with a armor that is parallel to his.

@buildhare: As stated before, War Machine lifted a tank, which may weigh around 50-70 tons. That armor is WM Mark II which was created 2012, the same when Iron Man Mark VII was made too.

Given Tony had already like 40 upgrades, it's safe to assume Iron Man is now a 100 tonner.

A great deal of those "upgrades" were prototype suits which we know for a fact were inferior to the ones preceding them. Based on that alone we shouldn't assume that each suit is progressively stronger, let alone make a jump of 30-50 tons based on power-scaling.

No way of knowing really. Iron man is also only lifting a fraction of the weight. The other repulsors around the ship are still working and helping him keep it in the air.

The tank feat is awesome but hes never done anything like that in the movies. Seems pretty outlandish and hasn't been consistent with anything in the films. Anytime he moves something heavy in the films he always has the aid of his repulsors. Id like to see more stuff like that in the films to help cement him in to that strength range.
