If you’ve already got a “Almost Too Real” Iron Man figure, it only makes sense that you should have a “Almost Too Real” War Machine figure to pour out the lead next to it, right?
Hot Toys thinks so and they’ve just released some pics of 1/6th scale War Machine Collectible Figure, forged in the likeness of Don Cheadle, that they’ll be letting loose at the end of Quarter 2 or beginning of Quarter 3. And thanks to Slashfilm for the heads-up.
Just as you’d check out the specs for a car, here are the specs of this piece of hardware.
- Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Don Cheadle as War Machine in the movie Iron Man 2
- Alternate head with authentic likeness of Don Cheadle as Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes in the movie
- Approximately 30 cm tall
- Over 36 points of articulations
- Movable and detachable parts on shoulder and waist
- Four (4) pairs of interchangeable palms
- One (1) pair with improved articulations, movable fingers and light-up repulsors (white light, battery operated)
- One (1) pair of open palms with light-up repulsors (white light, battery operated)
- One (1) pair of relaxed palms with light-up repulsors (white light, battery operated)
- One (1) pair of fists
- LED-lighted eyes and heart (red light, battery operated)
- Articulated flaps at the back of armor on left and right legs
- One (1) articulated shoulder-mounted gatling gun, rotatable and multidirectional
- Two (2) shoulder-mounted cannons with one on left one on right side.
- Two (2) machine guns with one behind left and one behind right forearm.
Something tells me this figure won’t be going for the usual $9.99, unless that’s only the first of a hundred-part payment plan. And SHEESH! With the amount of detailed lavish on the weapons, I’d almost expect this thing to be advertised in GUNS & AMMO magazine. It’s kind of crazy to see such a fantastical design as War Machine’s interpreted with such cold, efficient realism. Like I pointed out before, Legacy Studios even went back and replaced the mini-guns typically on Rhodey’s wrists with much more practical SMG’s. It might still be too absurd for real life, but at least the recoil would be at least a little more practical on that, right? And I do find it amusing that there's such a variety of hands for this figure. Fist, open palm and relaxed palm -- it's like you can put War Machine through zen meditation exercises if you so choose to.
What do you think, oh lead-unleashing Comic Vine community? Is this figure just screaming for a place on your mantle?
UPDATE: G-Man's let me know that Wal-Mart will be having some 6" IRON MAN 2 toys on its shelves that are a little more in everybody's price range. Compare and contrast the War Machine figure below to the one above. Although, all these figures - - Rhodey, the Suitcase Silver Centurion and the Mark VI - - ALSO have interchangeable hands so, really, what are you missing? Pictures courtesy of Marvelous News...
