Over the years Iron Man has obviously made more variations than one could probably count, and several of those were primarily designed for specific purposes - like stealth, strength, or defeating a particular enemy. But what if Iron Man created a suit of armor that incorporated the best of every suit he's ever made? This would obviously be a considerable feat even for Tony Stark, but just imagine what a suit like that could do! Even if you only took his top ten suits and combined them together you'd probably get a suit unlike anything he's ever made before.
Could such a suit be possible for Iron Man, or is it too far-fetched? Then again, it might just end up greatly overpowering him to the point of him being too unstoppable to be all that interesting any more since it's a character's short-comings that makes them appealing usually.

Well you have to take into consideration that each new armor he makes is more capable then the last. He is constantly striving to make his primary armor more suitable for all possible conditions. Your idea at it's base isn't bad at all. It would definitely make for a good alternate universe or what if piece.  Seeing an alternate universe in which Tony created one suit of armor that possessed all the powers of all his armors. Perhaps an extension of extremis that operated with some sort of template system in which he could pull up any past armor at will.

Iron Man as a book isn't hard science fiction but it does take a loosely realistic engineering approach to the suit.  Just as it is impossible to build a car with the advantages of all cars, likewise for the suit.  Many of the advantages of the suits are mutually exclusive.  For example the Suitcase armor is prized for its light weight and low compressible volume... that is antithetical to the Hulkbuster armor.  It would be impossible to get all the advantages of a tank, compact car, dragster, and hybrid in a single vehicle.  Thus, you specialize and that treatment of vehicles- or nearly any gadgetry- carries over to Tony's suits.

That said, the entire concept of the Mark variations is exactly that.  Tony is creating the next best balance of all his existing technology and expertise into a single well-rounded suit each time he creates a new Mark variant.  That's the reason the progression is [mostly] linear in that he has a Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, etc. and [rarely] a Mark II-alpha v. Mark II-beta.  You can assume that any specialized suit is essentially the most advanced version of that series and that its advantages are sufficiently exclusive as to not justify being on the main Mark suit.

@Mainline: These are very valid points. However given Stark's current armor having transformation capabilities,  could it not be argued that the suit could be modified to incorporate different templates. Obviously it would be a stretch to say that he could incorporate a hulkbuster template do to it's shear mass(unless the new suits nano structure have a way to self replicate), but to think that it could run  in a manner that he could give it a command to initiate arctic mode or hydro mode and it would re orientate itself in the set configuration isn't an off the wall hypothesis.

Oh and please don't take this as an argument obviously no one except the creators know enough about this armor's design to really get into arguing about it's capabilities. I'm simply going off of what i have read about the suit and my personal knowledge of computers to present an idea that would be possible.

@cbeavers2: I guess the question is: What are the last 10 best armors' features?  And what, if anything, is missing from the "Bleeding Edge" suit?  I suspect basically everything is already in the suit and the things that aren't can't.

That's a good question if you had to pick ten alternate armor features what would they be? I also suspect most everything that can be incorporated is. My thoughts were mainly on more of an alternate universe or a what if setting to be honest. It wasn't until your comment that i began actually looking into the different suits capabilities. Thanks for the input and the thought/ research provoking comment.
