    Injection #5

Maria Kilbride goes underground to save a man from the sound of the haunted future.

Previously: A spriggan hunt among the dark satanic mills.

    The Best:

Colors: In all of the issues thus far I can't get over how wonderful the coloring is. Jordie Bellaire is a genius with her color palettes. I feel as though I'm seeing three intense stories. One with words, one with drawn lines and the other through Jordie Bellaire's colors.

Details: There is so many things going on in each panel. Declan Shalvey really does an amazing job at adding details into the background that really pulls your attention. This detail makes the panels more interesting and helps give small insights into the lives of each of our characters, as well as, help illustrate the unique state of the creatures/beings that are experiencing.

Storyline: I can't express how interesting the series Injection truly is without mentioning the storyline. It's not the actual telling of the story per say, but the way in which is had been presented to us, the reader. We come to understand in issue #5 that the narrator through the series is their creation, Injection. I love when a series makes you believe in a narrator presenting the facts to you in a poetic medium to BAM it's a more important element than you once thought. After reading this issue, I went back a reread the previous four and things made so much more sense. I love the thoughts and feelings I still had when reading the first time around but Warren Ellis did an fantastic job with weaving this thread throughout the series thus far to have things revealed in this issue. And it didn't seem forced or to soon either. Things happened just when they needed too.

    The Worst:

Robin Morel's coding speech: I have to say, this part confused me a bit. Okay, more than a bit, a lot! I had to reread those three pages like 4 times slower and slower before I understood half of it. I think that is the point though. We really aren't meant to understand the actual meaning of it all just yet. Just like if a scientist tried explaining something it would be hard to understand without knowing all the words and meanings right away. I didn't dislike the speech but at the same time, I kind of wanted to skip over the pages.

That's really the only complaint that I had against this issue, well, besides it wasn't long enough blah blah. But seriously, if you really like something, is it ever going to be long enough for you to be truly happy and content with it.... probably not.

Over all, I can't wait for issue #6 to come out. I have enjoyed Injection since the previews and out of everything that I have in my pull list, this title is normally one of the first a reach for.

Recommend: To any fans of Warren Ellis, folklore, different forms of A.I., and if you read Trees, I believe you would probably enjoy this as well. Kind of the same feel with things growing and having intelligence behind it. Also, Warren Ellis writes Trees!
