Image style Winter's Edge
I miss anthologies like this. Vertigo had Winter's Edge, where the imprint to get the ongoing series to contribute a little something in a shared anthology. A place where all the stronger books helped to give exposure to the weaker series and to give an overall example of output by the company.
This felt like a Winter's Edge. There were Bigger hitters like Spawn, PvP and Walking Dead to help spark interest. While lesser known stories like G-Man steal your heart. I am not going to lie there is some bad stories, but a lot of it was not bad at all. I enjoyed the two framing stories they did. One was set in a bar on Christmas eve and it is one page long, we see these one page stories every so often and they are nice way to keep focus of some sort of continuity. Another neat Framing bit was having Mr. Glum be Mr. Glum.
The Walking Dead story was every heart warming and the father and son angle Kirkman has with Morgan and Duane Jones is so touching at this state of walking dead (2005).
The Spawn story also was very strong on me, it had a great visual story with minimal words.
Overall this was a fun holiday read.
Cheers and Merry Christmas
