Ichijinsha's origins began in 1992 as Studio DNA (which it officially merged with in 2005) but the fully-formed manga publisher Ichijinsha itself only launched in December 2001 and debuted its premiere manga magazine (Monthly Comic Zero-Sum) in early 2002. Though Zero-Sum is aimed at a female demographic, in 2005 the publisher launched Monthly Comic Rex for the male demographic and the two magazines have been the publisher's primary publications ever since.
Both magazines have had their own spin-off magazines but of particular note is Zero-Sum's spin-off Comic Yuri Hime which is the current form of what was the first manga magazine dedicated to yuri manga.
