Art is not defineable, good or bad, its in the point of view, and the artists point of view.

I disagree. Greg Land's work is terrible.

He's not a bad artist... but...

I read those issues looking forward to a great cross-over with Captain Marvel and Superman and walked away disappointed not only in the story, but the way he seems to have a love affair with facial muscles... not only that but Cap and Supes may as well be twins here. I mean I know they look similar, but this is just laziness.

I did also notice that. Cap has a rounder face and not chisel jawed like sups.

I'd argue this... in the words of my perspective instructor "inking/colouring a bad drawing is like sprinkling glitter on sh!t" If the original drawing isn't good, no matter how much time you put into coloring and inking, it still won't look right.

But on topic, after looking over some of this guys work, I do like it. It doesn't feel off to me.

I like his work, since his run on the Covens. But sometimes his art does look a bit odd.

    Ian Churchill:

He did Excalibur (marvel) for a time and had seen his work from pencils to the actual finish product. There are angles that are a bit ugly for me but that is just subjective view. Objectively speaking and seeing his current works, he is as good as the other artist but not really striking or noteworthy like the other ones.

Other ones like Travis Charest, Marc Sylvestri, Jim Lee, Mcfarlane, Joe Mudereira who defined comics illustration during their time.

I think Ian's art is alright...but not great or awesome. But still several levels above...Rob Liefeld, for instance.

As a professor I can tell you all that it is true that there is nothing more important than drawing  with out a good drawing there is no good story telling. Now dont misunderstand there are some great colorists and inkers that can improve a solid drawing into a masterpiece so no discredit to them.

Churchill is a fine artist he may lack that sigunature look that comics artists need to stand out among the crowd but his work is strong.

Land takes alot of heat for "cheating" yet should all know historically some the worlds greatest artists used the technique he uses of copying and altering compositions to create a  "new/different" image. In this respect hes doing nothing really wrong nor really cheating.

Maleev is one you all should consider for "bad" art as his last issue in dark regin was about the worst I have seen. Hes a great cover artist however this Last issue left a very bitter taste

Churchill is amazing. One of the best books I've read was TITANS EAST which he drew. I thought it was great looking. He's a good artiest but it depends on what he's drawing.

Reading his run on supergirl rn and the dude is decent but he can’t draw breasts for shit. It’s embarassing. It’s like every woman he draws is wearing nothing but body paint
