I've read a lot on the net about how powerful Dr Strange is, able to battle even the likes of Galactus in the past. However in WWH Hulk, Hulk defeated him not once but twice? Just wondering why this was? Surely Strange had the power to cast some spell which moved the Hulk to another dimension and game over for WW Hulk?

if you have ever noticed that strange does a little seizure dance with his hands to cast a spell well thats marvels way of depowering what could be basically GOD so i guess it makes sense that if his hand were broke he couldnt do anything

Let's start with some back story in the World War arc about Strange and Hulk. Strange, along with others, sent Hulk into space so he wouldn't be a threat to Earth any more. Things went bad, Hulk returns. Strange noticed he was MUCH more powerful on return and it was suggested to him to either just kill him or banish him again. Strange didn't want to banish him again because that would result in and even more powerful Hulk coming back, as well as that Hulk could do all sorts of damages to other worlds while banished. He doesn't want to kill him (despite admitting he could) because he'd "lose his soul forever" (i.e. it's against who Strange is).

Strange than tries to calm Hulk down via magic and the astral realm. He almost accomplishes this but Hulk breaks his hand which seriously hinders his ability to do magic. Hulk's war bound (friends) almost capture Strange and as a last resort Strange possesses himself with the demon Zom. Strange than fights Hulk in this form literally punching holes through Hulk's torso. Strange accidentally almost kills a bunch of bystanders in the battle which causes him to let up his attack for a little bit, which Hulk than beats the Zom out of him.

@green_skaar: But strange could’ve just got Wong to heal his hands or heal them himself then beat hulk afterwards so why didn’t he just do that and strange had prep he could’ve just sealed hulk or restrained him unless you’re telling me dr strange can’t beat a planetery level threat.

I thought he was beaten by World War Hulk in one of his strongest incarnation .

Not hating on hulk but strange is someone who regularly deals with people much more powerful than hulk so why did he panic and do the dumbest thing like using Zom somebody much more powerful and evil than hulk as a tool against hulk that seems like one of strange’s dumbest idea.

@kidolio: Which is why he said he could snuff out Hulk easily if he wanted, which is something Hulk also knew so he broke his hands to prevent him from using his magic, his only other option at the time was to use Zom and just beat Hulk with pure brute force, which obviously worked out in the end in Hulks favor. Of course when crafting certain storylines you have to go with certain narratives to keep the story going. I am sure Strange might have had some other options but the point was to move the story from Hulks perspective not his. This was Hulks event and Hulk himself has taken a dive and done things which normally wouldn't have happened in someone elses events to move the plot forward.

strange holding back a bunch from guilt and a lot of other emotions

@virtuozzo: I know it has to follow the narrative plot but it just peeves me a bit because hulks other fights made sense and was realistic of how they would go but stranges was a bit of an asspull.

@thehercules:It wasn´t pis: when Strange had taken him into his own mind hulk tried to attack him and his fist just passed through his astral form,strange got pissed and he said he would snuff the life out of him,which is true,but won´t because bruce is his friend.Banner and hulk realized he was too powerful and smashing wasn´t the answer this time,he turn to banner to trick him and broke his hands before he could react.Strange without his hands is useless,he cant cast spells.The siphoning of the Zom´s power is just raw power,hulk can tank it,strange lost when he seen he was putting citizens in danger and hulk caught him by surprise (again) to beat him till he passed out
