So I was just watching the movie Legion, and a friend of mine explained that it was based on the Book of Revelations, and the Apocalypse. This made me realise after further explaining that the X-Men Baddie Apocalypse, and his four horsemen (Death, War, Pestilence and Famine) are completely based upon this book from the bible. Even though this may have been more obvious to others, I wonder how many other Characters in Comic Books are based upon Religion, and the Bible.
Horsemen of Apocalypse
Team » Horsemen of Apocalypse appears in 514 issues.
Superhumans of great power chosen by Apocalypse as his greatest followers. Genetically enhanced to be beyond what they were before, the Horsemen herald their master's terrible vision for the world.
Bible Based Comic Book characters...
The name Legion comes from the biblical man who was possessed by thousands of spirits until Jesus 'exorcised' him (I'm sure there's a lot of theological debate around that, but it's a very brief Cliff's Notes of the story ;)
Angel is religiously inspired in MU there are races of mutants that influenced the biblical stories.

He claims Angel/Archangel is of the race that imprisoned Azazel.
Eclipso claims responsibility for the floods that noah had to endure.
The Spectre, claims responsibility for Jehova, Sodom and Gamorra (think its spelled like that), the seven deadly plauges that befell egypt and genenrally suspected to be the Angel of Death. However DC muddied this up since his first host was a hindu and saw one of his gods (Vishnu or Shiva) granting him the task.
Vandal Savage got messed up in the bible during Final Crisis where he was either turned into or revealed to be the biblical Cain.
Only need one: Michael.
