    The film places Castle Dracula in the vicinity of Klausenburg/Cluj Napoca, the historical capital of Transylvania and fourth largest city in Romania. Dracula seems to travel to Germany to face Van Helsing and the Holmwood family. Despite this being a British film, no part of the action takes place on Great Britain.

    This is the first film to both feature Harker as a vampire and dispose of him within minutes of its start. Arthur Holmwood is cast as brother to Lucy and husband to Mina. Dr. John Seward is given a cameo and Quincey Morris omitted.
