Hope Summers
Character » Hope Summers appears in 1423 issues.
The first mutant born after M-Day, Hope Summers is believed to either be the mutant messiah or the harbinger of death for humanity. She is an Omega-level mutant power manipulator and possesses a connection to the Phoenix Force.
Make up their minds already!
We all know of hope many powers, but am I the only one who want the writers to distinguish her powers as power mimicry or the powers of all the mutant race? I don't want to see A new random power of hers each comic she's in. Do you?
(This topic has nothing to do with what her powers are, to put aside confusion.)
I think the ambogious nature of her powers right is cool, more speculation and more people read the comics to figure it out. And she really hasn't used her powers since she defeated Bastion/Nimrod so its not like every writer is giving her aa power. She has activated the new mutants powers (five light) but that seems to be unrelated to what she did on the bridge.
I think they are purposely keeping it undefined right now. Maybe they are watching the fan sites and waiting to see what fan reaction is so far.
Either way I'd love to see her face off against the Isolationist.
Wasn't this setteld in the recent Phoenix handbook?
" @FadeToBlackBolt: It officially stated that she was a mimic, who can copy other mutants powers. It also announced that she is an omega level. "Really? Well I am not so surprised about the omega status. Did it say anything about her connection to the Phoenix Force?
@fesak:
Why is it paradoxal?

By needing other mutants who she can copy she has limits.

That really is kind of a letdown. Not terrible, but a letdown. At least the identity of her dad will be interesting hopefully.

I had forgotten about that." @FadeToBlackBolt: It officially stated that she was a mimic, who can copy other mutants powers. It also announced that she is an omega level. Well when they celebrating around the fire after Bastion's attack, Emma was concerned about the powes Hope displayed and remembered the encounter she had with the vision of Jean during the Sisterhood attack. Hope could a danger as well the proposed messiah. Her garndmother never that claimed that her mom was a mutant or not, and her paternity is still in question. Also since her appearance after M-Day is in theme with a savior type, her actual conception mya not have been by normal means (eg.) artificial insemination.
Another power mimic is neato and all, I just wish her powers could be tweeked a bit. Maybe along with being a mimic, she can also be a catalyst to other mutants, amplifying their powers and having an instant understanding of all the applications and limits they possess. Or maybe she's only able to siphon energy and can't copy physical manifestations like regeneration or strength?
