Character » Hollow appears in 390 issues.
Artie and Leech had a treehouse in the Danger Grotto, where Penance spent much time in the earlier issues of Generation X. Penance was sent away with Leech, Artie, and M's little sisters to live with M's parents in Algeria at the end of Generation X.
Banshee cared for Penance in the early issues of Generation X, both emotionally and as a teacher. He attempted to discover what language the mysterious mutant spoke and joked with her. Even in the later issues of Generation X, he showed interest in Penance's well-being, but after Generation X he was probably too caught up in his own issues to look after his former charges.
Each of his three daughters at one point or another resided in this body
Chamber and Penance are kindred spirits. More than anyone else on the junior X-Men team called "Generation X," these two understand what it feels like to have your mutancy be a curse and have your powers make you into a monster. Chamber was able to get through to Penance when no one else could through this unspoken connection, calming her down and keeping her from attacking anyone else. It was because of Chamber getting through to Penance in Generation X #2 that Penance submitted to staying with Generation X from that point forward.
Hollow turned on Darkhawk and the others, aiding Phil Urich's escape, but was later seen with The Loners again, including Darkhawk's ex-girlfriend Turbo, so it stands to reason that he might not consider her an enemy anymore.
Dirtnap and Penance became fast friends when she offered him a piece of cheese.
Elwood helped Generation X get their teammates back from another dimension, by helping them pass through the portals between dimensions.
Penance helped Synch rescue Gaia from being chained to a rock for all eternity.
Gateway is an mutant that can create wormholes. He enabled Penance's initial escape from Emplate, dropping her on the lawn of Generation X's school.
The Grande Dame owes Penance a debt of gratitude for defeating a tyrannous dragon.
Husk and Penance grew to be like family, as did the rest of Generation X for Penance, when they were together at the Massachusetts Academy. When Penance was frightened, Husk gave her a hug. Even though Husk's skin was diamond, Penance still had to be very careful when hugging her, as small scratches started to appear in Husk's diamond skin even in their gentle embrace.
If Penance had a best friend during her time in Generation X, it would be Jubilee a.k.a. Jubilation Lee. Throughout the early issues of Generation X, Jubilee often spent time and worried for Penance, who was at the time inhabited by M. After she was released from Penance, M remembered the entire ordeal and resented Jubilee for treating her like a pet horse by feeding her apples and such; it remains unknown what the Penance body herself thought of Jubilee's affection. Jubilee's friendship with Penance seemed to have waned in the later issues of Generation X.
Hollow attacked Julie Power, afraid and thinking she was her enemy. Later, when Julie Power decided to enroll in Avengers Academy, she brought her Loners pals with her, including Hollow.
Although Leech has the power to negate all Mutant abilities around him, it's uncertain if his powers ever had an effect on Penance. What is for certain is that, even around Leech, Penance's obvious physical mutations remained. Penance was sent away with Leech, Artie, and M's little sisters to live with M's parents in Algeria at the end of Generation X.
M, a member of the junior X-Men team Generation X, and Penance have a complicated history and it's not entirely accurate to say that they would be friends now. Still, if this entry doesn't stay here, there's no doubt it will be re-added by someone at some point, just because the two of them were on the same team in the past. Some suspect that M and Penance are related by blood, but those reports are so far unsubstantiated. At the moment, it appears M wants as little to do with Penance as possible, having spent a long time (years, perhaps?) trapped in her body by her brother Emplate.
Chronologically speaking, Penance and the M Twins first met in Monaco, as shown in a flashback in the issue stated above, but they first met Penance when she knocked Penance out in Generation X #3. At the time, they were merged together and pretending to be their sister Monet.
"Like." That was the single word Penance (now called Hollow) uttered when she saw Phil. She kissed him, which came to everyone's shock, and smiled at him. From that point on, she lived with him in his apartment, sleeping on his floor. When he turned against his friends in a fit of madness, she helped stop him, but went back to his side when she learned that Mickey Musashi had made a deal with Fuyumi Fujikawa, a woman who had kept Hollow prisoner.
The female android version of Red Ronin. Although Hollow turned on the other "Loners," she obviously has a past with this one. Hollow hugged the Red Ronin with a huge smile on her face, making it hard to believe that the two would be enemies when next they meet.
Hollow initially fought Ricochet in a secret lab after being released from a containment tube, thinking he was her enemy. It's unclear who made the first attack, but Ricochet remained suspicious of Hollow even after his group agreed to take her in. They were later seen together at Avengers Academy enjoying a game of tug-of-war, so it seems those bridges have been mended.
Skin, another member of the junior X-Men team Generation X, spent time with Penance and regarded her as family, as all of Generation X grew to be close during their time together. Skin had faked his death, so he couldn't go back to his real family, who he thinks would have disowned him for being a mutant anyway.
A mutant who was truly in-Sync with other mutants. Synch was a member of the junior X-Men team, Generation X. Everett, being the nicest member of Generation X, felt much compassion for Penance or "Penny" as she was affectionately called.
Although at one time uneasy acquaintances, then enemies, it seems those bridges have been mended because they're part-time students at Avengers Academy together.
