I Want To Like This Book But... 3

Heroes For Hire returns with a new modus operandi. With no set team roster, will this new direction work help the team and book be successful?  The Good The idea of not having a predetermined team makes sense. I like that the team will be assembled on the fly based on the events of the mission. This might not always work as the character seemingly in charge of Heroes For Hire, acting as Control, may not get the person they need. Each person is contacted and asked if they are available. The lives...

    Heroes for Hire v3 Issue 1 0

I'm way too divided on this book for my own good. See, I love me some Luke Cage and I love me some Iron Fist. In that same vain, I feel a bit odd whenever Heroes for Hire doesn't include Luke Cage, so even if Danny is there, Luke needs a presence. It's his gig after all. Regardless, Marvel feels the needs to make a new Heroes for Hire book and here it is, without Luke. Let the adventures begin!   Our issue opens up with Falcon receiving a package from "Control", an ear piece, and he swings into...

No Recession For Heroes In the Marvel Universe 1

The new Heroes for Hire kicks off with a very solid start, doing a great job of establishing the status quo for the book and then kicking it over with a twist at the end.  Heroes for Hire can be a difficult team to sell, because there is a very mercenary nature implied by the name. It is a tricky task to balance the heroes and the hire. Play them out as a straight superhero team, and the name becomes stupidly arbitrary. Emphasize the hire part too much and the book end sup losing most of its sup...

Heroes for Hire #1: Fourth time's the charm! 0

Seems like almost every decade Marvel has tried to recapture the fun that the original Heroes for Hire had going for it back in 1978. Volume 2 had Iron Fist basically assembling the Defenders. Fail. Volume 3 had Misty Knight & the girls lead a team that resembled Birds of Prey. Fail. Times have changed and street characters patrolling the seediness of NYC doesn't carry the same impact as it does today. You're more likely to run into a pretentious Midwest transplant jacking up the rent in you...

Best Workplace Ever - Heroes for Hire 0

Spinning out of Shadowland comes the third incarnation of Heroes for Hire! Marvel heroes and heroines unite for the common good – and a hefty paycheck! "Tonight on WH4H - a serious butt-whoopin'."  The latest chapter in the Heroes for Hire saga starts with a bang. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning deliver page after page of action and intrigue, rivaling Secret Avengers in terms of story-telling and art. The first issue is an introduction to how the new “team” functions – a roster of heroes is contacte...

    Who controls the Control? 0

This book has a great conpect: an organization led by Misty who hires heroes for different jobs but to achieve a common goal, that is stop some evil doing. It´s very interesting to see Misty coordinates Falcon, Black Widow, Moon Knight and Elektra so they can prevent that a large amount of drugs can reach it´s destination. The best of this book is Brad Walker´s art, that is clean, classic, dynamic, very good at expressions and amazing. This series gets a touch of secret service, espionage, 007, ...

    Are You For Hire??? 0

Heroes for Hire is back!!! Will this book and the new direction for the heroes work??? The Good This book is so cool. The team being assembled when needed is very good idea. It's a fast book which is good. The art and writing are excellant.  The Bad There was no real bad in this issue. My only probelm was is the Puppet Master really capiable of what he is doing but I have faith in DnA. Overall This was an excellant issue. I really enjoyed it but with this title's luck it could get cancelled in a...
