An ancient Egyptian mystic who achieved immortality, among other powers, Hermes Tris Megestus lived for 1200 years before becoming bored and committing suicide. Felix Faust was seeking the secret to immortality to avoid having to settle his debt in the afterlife, since he had sold his soul. Faust resurrected Tris Megestus using an occult ritual. Megestus was angered at this disturbance of his rest, and resolved to end all life to avoid being awoken again. This brought him into conflict with the JLA.
